Cabana Cafe — Restaurant in Florida

We came in tonight for the first and probably last time. The waitress/ service was normal, with no issues there. Our entrees came with our choice of salad, which we chose Caesar, which we had brought out to us twice. The first time, by someone not our waitress, then moments after getting them 3 more were brought out by our waitress bc she wasn't aware that we had already had them. She immediately said these could be to go and got a box and scraped all 3 in there. Now, this wouldn't be an issue if the Caesar dressing in the salad was any good. I had one bite of the initial salad and didn't have any more bc of the dressing. Now we have a full to go box of salad with terrible dressing on it. We ordered our entrees, and my kids loved the chicken tenders and fries. However, the portion you got with what you paid was ridiculous. It was like 4 almost half pieces of tenders and fries for 17.99! My husband said his burger was delicious. I ordered the fried fish basket, and what was brought out to me was the fried shrimp basket bc apparently someone saw the word fish and made shrimp. I don't eat shrimp, so that in itself was a waste of food, I wasn't charged for it but it could have just stayed in the back and the employees munch on it or something but I nibbled on my fries while waiting for my actual meal to come which I just got to go anyways so my kids weren't just sitting there waiting on me to eat the food I ordered. I can't begin to explain how disappointing it was to see the food. 19.99, and I was given a huge plate of fries and 7 small fried bits of fish. It looked like 1 small piece of fish that had been chopped up. The meal should be renamed fried fish bits basket because when I read fried fish basket for 19.99, I'm thinking I'm going to get actual pieces of fried fish. What's worse is the fish sucked. We decided to try this place since we were staying at Ariel Dunes and it was right downstairs. When we walked in, we noticed the restaurant was pretty dirty. Tables had not yet been turned (even though it was very slow - we were one of about 5 tables sat) and the floor looked like it hadn’t been swept for a few days. Mind you, we got there at around 11:45 and they opened at 11:00. We ordered a small pizza, a cheese curd appetizer, and a fried pickle appetizer. We ordered at 12:15 and didn’t get the food until 1:15. Again, not busy at all so don’t quite understand the wait time. The server was friendly. We ordered a speciality pizza (Buffalo chicken) but with half of it cheese only for our kids. We were charged the full price of the speciality pizza and an up charge for cheese only on one half. Doesn’t make sense to me. The food came from a frozen bag (we saw it) but the pizza seemed to be made fresh. The crust was soggy and hard to pickup to eat. Overall not a good experience and are not likely to dine here again. There seems to be an identity crisis at the restaurant - ceilings that look like they are covered in dust but painted, remnants where a wall was taken out, dirty restaurant, and a disorganized hostess stand right when you walk in. Our waitress was extremely rude from the moment she was taking our drink order . We called ahead and told them we had 21 people they got a table ready but the waitress was just annoyed!! When we asked a question she would answer rudely she didn’t want us parents helping our 2-5 year olds with there drink order or food she wanted to ask them hello lady there 2 and 5 !!!! And the last straw was when I said should we go ahead and tell you who’s on who’s ticket we had four families with small children and some teens she would just need to split the checks four ways that really set her off to which she responded very rude and pissed off “ ugh no I will only split the check in two ways “ I said we have four families you can’t just split the checks for us , at that point we all were like since the moment we got here you have been nothing but rude and aggressive towards us !!! Looks like a hole in the wall and service was horrible ! Management didn’t do anything !!! He was like she is just trying to take your order , no she was taking to us like we are stupid and being rude ! Needless to say we took our business somewhere else to which that restaurant made good money hello 21 ppl !! And we left great tips !
