Had the unfortunate luck to stop here on our way to St. Augustine, as it was almost 9pm and other eateries were closing. (Note: just go to Chili's next door and save yourself.) Since it was open until 10, and who doesn't love mexican street food, we decided to try it. Big mistake. From the time we stepped inside we were ignored by teenage wait staff more concerned with their phones, cleaning (or some version of such), and talking than greeting or seating us. We did happen to have a very nice waitress who took good care of us, so that was the only plus. She seemed to be in charge of the teenage staff. We ordered the street corn appetizer, 3 street tacos (all three meats) and a chicken gordita. While waiting we did enjoy the salsa that was served as it was tasty with the traditional mexican chips. So then our food comes. We tried to like it, we really did. But this chicken had to come out of a can, it was SOOO flavorless. Salt, pepper, sour cream - nothing was helping this mess. My husbands 'carne asada' tasted like a shoe, and the only edible part of his meal was the carnitas. Not good, just edible. And let's talk about this street corn appetizer.....just don't. This was a glop of Sysco mayonnaise in a bowl of microwaved corn and about 5 cheese shreds on top. Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. So, overall if we weren't starving we would have just walked away from this mess. Saving grace that our waitress saw we ate none of the corn and took it off our bill, which was nice. The food gave us a little PTSD and when we drove by on the way out of town I threw up a little in my mouth in remembrance. Zero stars - would...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing lunch visit today. We got there at 11. We were the firsts in the restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and did everything great. However, everything else just went really bad. We got drinks, salsa and queso. Then ordered one of the Mexican pizzas and nachos to share. We were very excited to try the pizza for the first time. At 11:35 we finally received our food. It looked okay. We tried the pizza. Well, it was cold and COVERED in pineapple. We both highly dislike pineapple on our food and will never understand why they try to force pineapple or pineapple salsa on anything. When we order we make sure there is no pineapple in the description. And there wasn't on this pizza. Yet, it was all over it. Making it absolutely inedible to us. We weren't happy but we said whatever we will just send this back and share the nachos. No big deal right? Wrong! The nachos were cold and had no queso like they said they would so they were very dry as well. The queso we had at the table since 11 was warmer than the nachos and pizza we were just served. We waited 35 minutes to be served cold food that was wrong according to their own menu. That's pretty sad and disappointing. We won't be back. The waitress we had was very nice. She deserves better from her team. Everything she couldn't control was wrong. She ought to run it herself...
Read moreWhat an absolute NIGHTMARE Cantina Louie turned out to be! We chose this place for our friend’s 30th birthday, expecting a good time and great food. Instead, we were given a masterclass in incompetence and disrespect. We were originally quoted a 45-minute wait, which we could have lived with. But what followed was beyond infuriating.
Every single time we checked back, we were strung along with “just 5 more minutes,” then “10 more minutes,” then “15 more minutes.” After a ridiculous hour and a half of this nonsense, we found out they had been sitting on our table, which had been VACANT for over 45 minutes before they even started clearing it! What kind of operation are you running, Cantina Louie?
We were left with hungry, cranky kids, and a ruined celebration. To add insult to injury, we ended up going next door to Chili’s, where they seated us immediately and treated us like human beings.
Cantina Louie, you completely wrecked what should have been a joyous occasion. Your staff’s incompetence and total lack of customer care are unforgivable. We left empty-bellied, furious, and utterly disgusted. Never again will we set foot in this sorry excuse for...
