We were looking forward to going here. It was an especially chilly night, which demanded a good ole bowl of savory ramen. I heard their sushi was on point too, so those two were on the list for sure. When we arrived it was busy, but we were seated right away since there were three tables available. The staff was very nice and responsive. When we sat down we immediately ordered our drinks and a sushi roll appetizer. It was the crunchy spicy tuna roll. We got our drinks and were still browsing the menu for the right ramen and other items. It probably took another 15 minutes to make up our minds. We landed on the spicy Godzilla ramen (extra spicy) with extra chili oil and the Flagler roll. Fifteen more minutes go by and still no appetizer. My wife asked about our appetizer, and the waitress said she'd check. Next thing we know, my wife's ramen arrived but no appetizer sushi roll or the Flagler roll. We asked our waitress why we still hadn't received our sushi rolls, and she said the sushi bar was very backed up. This was super frustrating to hear, because had we known that we wouldn't receive our appetizer when we expected or the two dinner items at the same time we would've steered clear of ordering sushi altogether. Another fifteen mins later, after the arrival of the ramen, our rolls arrived. My wife and I shared the ramen so we could at least eat together. The ramen was hot and savory. I wish there were double the noodles but overall a pretty decent ramen bowl. The crunchy spicy tuna roll was pretty good and the Flagler roll was just ok. The textures were off for my taste. I would come back but maybe just for the ramen and/or order the sushi with the expectation it could be late. If we had guests with us it would be very inconvenient, since we'd all potentially not be eating at the same time depending on what we ordered. I highly suggest they fix the timing of the delivery of food and fix the way the efficiency of the sushi creation, or at least tell guests there is a delay at the sushi bar to give customers the option to change their order to avoid disappointment. My wife questions my 4-star rating, because of the poor communication about our food, so she said she'd need to go back a second time to see if that was just a busy night. I'm sticking with the 4-stars for now, but it seems like we'll go back to try at least...

Exquisite Sashimi and Serene Atmosphere: A Culinary Journey at Ginger Bistro Sushi, St. Augustine

Ginger Bistro Sushi in St. Augustine, Florida, is a haven for sushi enthusiasts seeking an unparalleled culinary experience. Nestled in the heart of the city, this gem boasts an array of delights that tantalize the taste buds and soothe the soul.

But it's the culinary offerings that truly steal the spotlight. Let's start with the sashimi - an exquisite masterpiece that transcends expectations. Each delicate slice is a testament to freshness, melting effortlessly in your mouth with a symphony of flavors. It's an experience so divine that you'll find yourself savoring each bite with eyes closed, completely immersed in the blissful indulgence.

And what pairs better with sublime sashimi than a sip of their hot sake? It's the perfect complement, warming you from the inside out and enhancing the sensory journey.

The staff at Ginger Bistro are more than just servers; they're ambassadors of hospitality, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and attended to with genuine warmth and professionalism.

Having frequented Ginger Bistro before and after its remodel, I can attest to the seamless integration of modernity without compromising on authenticity. The introduction of iPad menus adds a touch of convenience to an already stellar dining experience.

As someone who visits St. Augustine multiple times a year, Ginger Bistro has become a culinary pilgrimage for me. I find myself drawn back time and time again, eager to embark on another gastronomic adventure.

However, like most culinary delights, the true essence of Ginger Bistro's offerings is best experienced within the confines of the restaurant. While takeout may suffice in a pinch, the ambiance and attention to detail truly elevate the dining experience to new heights.

In conclusion, Ginger Bistro Sushi in St. Augustine is a culinary gem that beckons to be discovered. From the heavenly sashimi to the serene atmosphere and impeccable service, it's a destination that promises to leave an indelible mark on your palate and your heart. Highly recommended to all seekers of...

food was alright, service killed the whole experience. boyfriend pointed to and ordered salmon toro on the daily special for $6 after asking how many pieces it came with. server told him 2. after we received the bill we saw that we were charged $20 for the 2pc salmon toro. brought it to the waitresses attention and she apologized and said she'd correct it. received another bill where we were charged $10.99 for the 2pc salmon toro. brought it to the servers attention again and showed her on the menu what we ordered. the manager came around the corner with an attitude asking why we ordered the fatty salmon if we didn't want the fatty salmon and that the $6 salmon toro is only 1pc. when my boyfriend originally ordered he specifically said the salmon toro and pointed to it on the menu. if the server gave us the wrong item, how is that our fault? we assumed that the waitstaff/chefs knew what they were doing and gave us the food that we ordered. I don't know the difference between the $20 sushi and the $6 sushi we ordered but I do know we ordered a $6 item and we're not paying for a $20 item because of this restraunts mistake. almost felt like they were trying to scam us. after finally fixing our bill, the manager went over and starting talking very loudly and disrespectfully to their chefs about us. while we cashed out the waitress had to keep apologizing for the nasty attitude of her boss. felt bad for the waitress. ended up paying almost $60 after tip to leave unhappy. won't be back and definitely cannot recommend just based on service alone. there are too many amazing sushi restaurants in st augustine where I don't have this problem for me to want to waste my money here

edit : changed review to 1 star. everyone who ate sushi at my table ended up with...

“Phenomenal!” Real Blue Fin Tuna Toro. Serious sushi. I cannot stop thinking about the sushi I ate here. My wife and I dream about eating here. Three times now we have relocated our vacations to St. Augustine just to eat the sushi at Ginger Bistro. Few places in this country can offer an Omakase Experience as revered as Chef Tuna’s at Ginger Bistro. If only Miami could have a sushi place like this.... Our multi course meal was a journey through the senses. Starting off with “melt in your mouth” Blue Fin Toro sashimi, real Wagyu beef, fresh Caviar, Salmon Toro, cooked blue fin tuna and, eventually, reaching its crescendo with a succulent Miso marinated Chilean Sea Bass cooked to perfection. Everything immediately melts in your mouth and disintegrates with just the push of your tongue on your palate, Each taste is bursting with flavors and leaves an unforgettable linger in your mouth. Holding back our reaction to the food is impossible. I felt like getting down on my knee’s to praise the chef in gratitude. Never have I tried Aged Blue Fin Tuna so fresh with Salmon caviar, Cilantro, 24 kt gold flakes on a buttery toast. The bite sized Toro rolls are just the right size to fit in your mouth, and it melts away there in seconds. The rolls fit in your mouth, as they should. You wont find any mayonnaise or heavy sauces poured all over your food here. This is the best opportunity for anyone to savor a real sushi experience.
