This is one of the best shops in St. Augustine. Frankly, I'm disappointed in myself for not having reviewed Everything Bagel sooner.
First of all, the staff here are always so pleasant. I could be wrong but I'm pretty positive the woman who is nearly always at the counter is the owner. I envy her ability to always be in such a dazzling mood. I also love that this place is open so early. It's the only place open early enough, besides McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts, for me to grab a coffee and breakfast before work.
The bagels are absolutely delicious. I've never lived in New York and don't claim to be a bagel connoisseur but I enjoy the hell out of these bagels.
Everything Bagel also has the best veggie sandwich in town. It is smothered in hummus, so much so that I generally request less hummus, huge chunks of avocado, ripe tomato slices, sprouts, and cheese. I added some pesto into the mix when feeling wild. Lol my boyfriend loves the turkey special, generally always a special. You have your choice of having the sandwich on slices of fresh bread or a fresh bagel. The portion size is huge and as a result, I never leave this place still hungry.
Everything bagel is open on Sundays and many holidays. I'm always grateful to find it open when all other places in St. Augustine are closed.
One last thing: Everything Bagel made my dreams come true by selling fresh-made donuts. Even with new, hip donut shops opening around town, this place has the best donuts BY FAR! I was amazed at how a shop that specializes in bagels could make just simplebut irresistable donuts. Thank you, Everything Bagel! You make my heart and...
Read moreNice quaint little bagel place tucked away in a strip mall at the corner of 312 and US 1. I decided to stop in here because I was feeling a little adventurous and wanted to try a new place. I was a tad underwhelmed with the seating area and decor...reminiscent of a New York neighborhood deli. Old worn out tables, a few loose chairs that one might find at bingo night at the VFW, and a large cooler in the seating area holding their many selections of "schmear". Decor isnt everything...I wanted what I consider a staple of every bagel place everywhere...a Nova Lox bagel. Oddly enough, it was not on the menu, so I had to ask...luckily, it was. Dont worry...here comes the pros. Their selection of bagels was excellent and they were made fresh. The selection of schmear was good as well. I ordered a Nova Lox traditional on an "everything bagel" and a bag of chips. The drink selection was good as well albeit a tight squeeze to get to it. My bagel came momentarily. Tasty, crispy, and satisfying. My only qualm was that the bagel was not open faced in two halves but rather prepared like a bagel sandwich, so every bite had a tendency to squeeze the ingredients out. Otherwise, not a bad lunch and I can now cross this little hole-in-the-wall bagel place off my list. Probably wont ever have a "craving" to come back here again but I definitely wouldn't purposely steer...
Read moreSuper disappointed, not with the food, but with the staff. I was the only customer in the shop but was treated like they were in a mad rush. The guy who took my order was unfriendly, snippy, and when he went to hand me my order slip, he let it go before I even had it and dropped it on the floor. No apology, just spun around to hand my order to the bagel maker and talk about changing the music that was playing in the shop, while I was picking up my slip from the dirty floor so I could give it to the cashier and pay. Then I was given my order in a bag, only to realize after I walked out to my car that it wasn’t my order, but must have been a phoned in to-go order. I walk back in, explain to the bagel guy that it must not be my order, was asked my name, waited a bit, was given my order without any “sorry about the mixup” etc etc.
There is a culture here that lacks basic customer service and just simple human decency and kindness. It’s unfortunate. I’ve been here in the past when it was really busy and felt the same about their staff and service, but extended some grace because of the crowd. Realized today that it had nothing to do with how busy they are... just a poor service that is inconsiderate to their customers. Bummer.
I give 2 stars because the cashier lady was friendly and the food is good, but will be finding another shop for...
