We ate at the donut hole a couple times in Destin, first time was amazing! 2nd time it was after the afternoon rush and the waitress and service was in her words “tired”and the food was just disappointing! Today, we attempted the donut hole again, but the inlet beach location It was 4pm, the restaurant didn’t seem backed from the outside. Okay, let’s give it a try, it’s a different location!! Greeted and seated promptly! Yay!!! Good sign! Waitress was friendly and attentive! Okay let’s order something simple… Starter, French fries with gravy… My friend ordered French dip and chips and I ordered a hot dog with chilly and cheese… Pretty easy, nothing complicated right? Well, we asked for the fries to have no salt which usually means super fresh hot crisp fries….NOT The fries seemed like they had been refried or not cooked long enough and the gravy was super watery! Ughh Shaking our heads we hoped for the best with the dinners! The French dip came out with what looked like flat, thin cut lunch meat, totally unappetizing. My “simple” chili cheese hot dog, turned out super greasy with the bread being toasted and grilled with a ton of butter. The chili had no flavor and the cheese was just sprinkled on top! Now, it is something for me to ever turn down a chili hot dog, but it also had two bites out of it and was left! When the waitress returned she asked us if we wanted boxes and we told her how disappointed we were in the meals seeing basically none of it was eaten!! She honestly just totally blew us off, and we paid the $40 plus bill but we will definitely this time not be returning and it is a shame since we eat out often and love simple good food! Culver’s blows donut hole away with their fresh, fast...

Donut Hole was touted as a local staple on our visit. The food was good, the building was very nice, however the service was pretty horrible. Frankly, the donuts were extremely average as well. Overall, I find it to be a very skippable option with much better places to eat in the area.
I ordered the gulf omelet with hash browns as a side. The omelet was pretty good, with a lot of shrimp in it. It was pretty big as well. The hash browns were extremely generic. We also ordered 6 donuts, and tried each, with the intention of easting them for breakfast the next day. The only decent one was the Sugar Cinnamon. We threw the rest away.
Service was horrid. We got our drink orders put in pretty quick, then after that, it was another 30 minutes before anybody came back to take our food order. Then, another 30 to get our food (which is reasonable). Poor service wasted an hour of our time for some pretty average breakfast food.
The cost of everything was fairly reasonable. 7 of us ate for roughly 120 dollars. I have no problems with with the pricing of anything.
The building was very nice though. Cornhole outside, a ping pong table, it was all pretty cool. The building felt open and spacious on the inside as well. Easily the nicest part of the visit.
Overall, I cannot personally recommend this place. I think my experience was an isolated incident. If you can get some decent service, I think it would be a solid place to grab a bite in the morning.

Read moreThe Donut Hole is one of our favorite restaurants when we come to Panama City Beach every spring (Inlet Beach near Rosemary Beach). The food, the service and the experience is what makes it a great destination every year. Brian S., our server, who actually served us last year, is always such a great server, even though the restaurant was extremely busy. Brian made sure we were taken care of being considerate of us and adding a little humor to our conversations... He was a great guy... Hope to have him next year. The pancakes and coffee were outstanding and my wife of 50 years said the omelet was the best she had ever had... anywhere. For the first time ever going to the Donut Hole, we bought a couple of donuts... the white and chocolate angel were the best donuts I have ever had.
We first heard of The Donut Hole when we used to go to Destin several years ago and made our first visit to the 635 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541 location... It was an older house that had been converted into a restaurant. And who can ever forget the Diet Plate... you could feel the pounds dropping off while eating this Diet Plate with layers of biscuits, eggs, gravy, potatoes... It seems like we also got some great crepes there as well... We discovered the Inlet Beach near Rosemary Beach location on our trip to Panama City Beach last year.
Thank you, Donut Hole, for providing fond memories of our trips to Florida! And thank you, Brian, for helping to provide a great, yearly Panama City Beach experience. We look forward to seeing you next...
