Mom went to Duffy’s Sport’s Grill the first time with her sister and brother-in-law on December 31, 2023. She ordered a Salad (no meat) with additional toppings; carrots, broccoli, hard-boiled egg. She was charged $10.99 for her Salad including the upcharge for having broccoli. That is great, no problem! On January 7, 2024, at approximately 3:57pm, Mom and I went into Duffy’s for an early dinner. We are not sports fans but mom enjoyed her pervious Salad (And the price was reasonable.), so we went. We were seated right away. It did take a while for our server, Dominic, to come to the table. The place was packed, so I did not think anything of it, at that time. We ordered 2 Salads as described above, and had water to drink. I had asked for onion to be put in mine. After Dominic brought the Salads to the table, I did have to remind him that I wanted onion. Again, he was gone for a long time, nowhere to be seen in the restaurant. He must have had to go out into the garden to pick a fresh onion. During our time at the restaurant, we rarely saw our server. I looked for him several times but he was nowhere to be seen. When he was at our table, he was polite and courteous. Early into our visit, I asked Dominic for an MVP Card. Again, he was gone for a long time, nowhere to be seen in the restaurant. He brought one back to the table. He then explained how to fill in the card, what to do online, and said we would get $10 off our meal at that time. The bill came… we were charged $15.74 (not $10.99) for each Salad, plus the upcharge for the broccoli ($3.49), but we did not expect an additional Misc Food charge of ($4). Dominic said it was for the carrots and peppers. We did not get peppers. Mom tried to explained to him about her first visit and the pricing. Dominic went and got the Manager. Mom tried to explain to the Manager about her first visit and the pricing. The Manager was very matter of-fact; “This is what you got and this is how much it cost.” We felt we had no choice at that point but to shut-up and pay-up. AFTER we paid, Dominic told us that the Manager said the ‘next time’ we would get charged $10.99 for a House Salad. Next time… next time… What about this time? Nor did we did get the additional $10 discount off our bill for becoming a new MVP member. Mom and I feel unfairly taken advantage of. So, why would we want to be MVP members, go back for more abuse and lack of service? I do...
Read moreI have always been told that tables are first come first serve. That was not case on 9/8/24. We had a party of 13 and arrived at noon to secure seating (we all showed up at noon as we have also been told we can’t sit til whole party is there). Mind you I have been going for football since the place opened. When we got there, the guy at the door started to sit us in the restaurant area, I quickly spoke up and asked to be seated in the long table in the bar area. I was told it was reserved for Browns fans. I said, I thought you couldn’t reserve on football. He said I do what my manager tells me and i said oh good, I’d like to talk to the manager. He said he’d send him over. The party began to sit in the restaurant area. The manager did not show up. I didn’t want to make a scene so I sat quietly with pole in back of my chair. Food came out! My fish was excellent but the coleslaw was rancid. My guys fish tacos were dried out! My father enjoyed his broccoli soup. I then over heard the manager telling another table that the browns fans left another restaurant and will be attending the games there at Duffy through the season. I thought to my self, Oh good cause I won’t be back. The waitress was great no complaints on service. When I got home I emailed corporate, no surprise at no response. The food quality is hit or miss. Smell the coleslaw before eating and speak up if your food is over cooked after years of going there with our football crowd, i doubt we will be back, I know I won’t! In todays day with prices so high the whole side bar room should not be blocked off. Treat all customers the same! First come...
Read moreWe stopped in after a friend recommended and we wanted to catch some the World Cup replay. We had one drink and left. It just didn't impress us in any remarkable way. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either.
We sat at the bar and the bartender promptly greeted us and informed us of the 2 for 1 drinks specials. We asked her what whiskey, specifically bourbon, she had, as you cannot see anything they offer; no menu and all the liquor is held in a well below the bar. She started rattling off all the whiskey she had not knowing the difference between Bourbon, Rye, Scotch, and Canadian whiskey. It was actually funny to witness because she truly did not have any general knowledge of whiskey and she just held up the bottles to show us the options and everytime she picked up a bottle, it wasn't bourbon. We didn't mean to laugh, but it was funny in a sad kind of way.
For sports fans, there are a lot of TVs and the TVs are huge. It feels a little bit like being in the middle of Times Square. There is other ambient LED lighting, which is VERY bright. Between the TVs and the regular LED lights that are bright enough to perform surgery, it was visually uncomfortable for me.
Ironically, one the biggest happenings in sports this month is the 2018 World Cup which only occurs every 4 years. None of the TVs were showing any of that day's replay of the matches, which was a little disappointing.
2 for 1 drink specials all the time is probably a big draw to come here, but the extremely bright ambience and unremarkable service, for me, doesn't put this place at the...
