We found this gem of a restaurant about 10 years ago and made the trek from Dunedin weekly. Emily's had the best eggs Benedict, outstanding coffee, and wonderful service. Today, my family visited for the first time in a couple of years and the total experience was less than stellar. In fact, it was a bust for breakfast all the way around. My daughter ordered a hamburger, but, unless you are a total incompetent, that's pretty hard to ruin. The meals that were breakfast foods were where the problem was. First issue: our server was harried and inattentive. She forgot more things that we asked for or ordered than is generally acceptable. What server forgets that a guest wants coffee with breakfast? Second issue: the food has gone so far downhill we will never drive the 10 miles here again. Ordered my three year old grandson French toast and sausage from the kid's menu. For $5.49 he got one piece of regular white bread and a fatty sausage patty. ONE PIECE OF BREAD? My grandson was still hungry so we ordered another French toast minus the sausage. Cost for 2 slices of bread was $4.99! All told, a three year old's meal was $11 for 3 slices of bread and a sausage patty. That is beyond ridiculous. My husband had the Greek omelet with "potatoes" and grits. This was once his favorite meal at Emily's. No longer. Potatoes are no longer potatoes, but frozen hash browns, cooked crispy, but cold and mushy on the inside. The omelet was bland, eggs undercooked, and not served hot. No longer do condiments include sea salt or a pepper grinder so his food went unseasoned. Emily's eggs Benedict, my favorite breakfast, was once the standard to which I held all other restaurants. No longer. Today my meal was so disappointing I wanted to cry. Again with the crappy hash browns, mine were so burnt they were a solid sheet. My eggs were lukewarm and the hollandaise on the side was cold with a film formed over the top. I asked for hot hollandaise and got broken hollandaise swimming in a pool of butter. Nasty. My meal was returned but I was never offered the option to order something else so I left hungrier than when I arrived. Bottom line? Emily's is off our list forever. I will never recommend this rest to a local or tourist again. This was a complete waste of money, time, and gas. My husband took me to lunch...

The prices are refreshingly reasonable, considering the exceptional quality of their offerings. During my vacation, I found myself drawn to this diner four times for both breakfast and lunch, and each visit was a delightful culinary adventure. I can't recommend their breakfast items enough, especially the heavenly egg benedicts and the delightful array of sweet breakfast options.
For those chilly days, their scratch-made soups are a warm and comforting treat, perfect for takeout. And speaking of breakfast indulgence, don't miss out on their diverse Mimosas selection featuring Italian champagne Prosecco – a luxurious touch that pairs wonderfully with your morning meal.
The freshly brewed coffee surpasses any corporate brand, offering a rich and aromatic start to your day. For lunch, the hidden treasures are the paninis, not on the regular menu but showcased on the board as daily specials. Trust me; they are worth the try!
What truly sets this diner apart is their dedication to locally sourced produce. From the enticing cantaloupe to other fresh ingredients, everything is proudly acquired from local farmers. It's more than a meal; it's a celebration of community and flavors.
If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and savor a meal at this diner. You won't regret supporting a place that takes pride in everything made and grown locally. Cheers to unforgettable dining...
Read moreIf you make an effort to go off the beaten path or out of the way to less popular restuarants, this is how you will find great places to enjoy and have more variety in your choices to eat out. It was well maintained, clean, and cozy. They offer counter, booth, or tabletop seating. The menu had an ample number of choices for everyone. They serve Wine, Mimosas, and Bloody Mary's. The food was brought quickly. It was hot and fresh. The grits were cooked perfectly like they were made by someone who loves to eat grits. The omelet was enormous. The home fried potatoes were crisp and tender. The sausage gravy was from scratch and flavorful with the right consistency. Not to thick like wall paste and not to runny. I really liked the "Emilys signature hot sauce". The wheat toast was a healthy selection. The waitress, Courtney was very helpful and visited my table several times to offer to bring anything else I wanted. They had specials for the day to offer inexpensive meal choices. For the meal I had made the way I wanted with several extras was worth every dime it cost! I strongly recommend that you add this place to your list of favorites. You will not be...
