Fernweh Ice Cream — Restaurant in Florida

Today was our first visit to Fernweh Ice Cream. It will be one of many to come. Only sorry that it took us so long. Oh, my word, their ice cream is sooo good! Plus organic and made right there! What a bonus. And the owners are so very friendly.

I had "Mint To Be" which is made with fresh chocolate mint (a real species of mint plant) which has a satisfying, natural mint flavor, not the strong mint toothpaste taste you usually get everywhere else. My wife had "Southernmost Point," which was key lime and ginger with crushed waffle cones mixed in. Subtle and incredible. We also tasted a few others, so it was a bit hard to choose. This ice cream is on another level. Came across this place just through a Google search while on vacation in Naples from Boston. My wife is an ice cream connoisseur and she can’t stop raving about this ice cream. And our 2 year old son was in heaven. To top it off, the service is amazing. They let us try a bunch of flavors even after we had our ice cream. The owner Joe is just a good person. Their story on how they came to be was heartwarming. Planning a dinner party for a couple in Naples. Lady of the house requested orange sorbet to finish off an Ossobuco Dinner. Sampled a few places, although good, not what I was looking for. It came to mind all I had heard about this place and thought ... why not try. I entered with six beautiful oranges and ask if they could make orange sorbet and serve it in the citrus itself.
