Man oh man I used to be an avid eater of Firehouse Subs back in college and didn't even realize that they had any locations in Miami. Once I found out I had to come for a reminiscent bite and like always brought my boyfriend along. We came an hour before closing on a weekday and was surprised to find it completely empty. I think the location for this store must be a little tough since it's tucked away in a back corner where you could only find it if you were truly looking for it.
I ordered the medium sized Engineer but got it with brisket $6.99: melted swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and the "fully involved" (mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and kosher pickle on the side). SO delicious. My boyfriend went for the large (which really is huge and easily shareable with another) of the NY Steamer $7.99: brisket, pastrami, melted provolone, mustard, mayo, and italian dressing. This is usually my go to but I'm so glad I changed up this time though both sandwiches were delicious.
The reason I can only leave three stars though is because there was a couple issues with my experience here. The person I believe to be the manager took my order so I would assume he would know proper pricing and such so I was very confused by our bill. You can upgrade your sandwich with a combo deal but instead for us he individually charged everything (our chips, soda, pickle) so that our bill came out to be pretty expensive. When I tried to point this out he waved us off and simply walked away... The other issue was it took way too long for our sandwiches to be made. We were the only people there and must've waited a good 15-20 minutes for our food to be prepared with three able people behind the counter which I found to be pretty unacceptable.
I hope this location fixes these issues so I can return regularly for a good hot sub!

Read moreI went in and noticed one of the food preparers with the mask only covering her mouth while her nose was exposed breathing out just inches away from the sub she was preparing.
I saw that and walked away never bothering to order a sub or ever go back there. They do require proper mask wearing for customers but apparently that rule does not apply to their staff. 🤣😂.
I am an older man with several pre-existing conditions that make me very vulnerable to dying of covid-19 so I take these things rather personally.
This incident occurred approximately a month before writing this review. I have not seen any other unhygienic practice but sometimes I wonder. If the worker is so bold and brazen to prepare a sub just inches from her exposed nose in public for all to see in the midst of a pandemic that has killed 600,000 Americans just what might be going on behind the scenes is a question that looms in my mind.
I assume she was instructed by management how to properly wear a mask but decided in her own putative wisdom not to do so. Moreover why did the store manager not remedy the situation? This for me is a...
Read moreAmazing Catering Service! I just had to write a review about my experiences with the Kendall location. I've placed a number of catering orders for office events, and even a school booster club event, and Rafael (store manager) ALWAYS takes care of me. He makes it his personal duty to make sure my order is prepared perfectly and on time. His team at the store is awesome. The presentation and freshness of the food is always on point, and the delivery is never late. These things are so important to me because I'm ordering lunches for clients and upper level execs sometimes. I always know I'm making a great choice with Firehouse. But I need to touch again on how amazing Rafael is. I've never met a more pleasant store manager to work with, and honey, I have worked with them ALL from Homestead to Miami Beach. Even when I have an issue that is an inconvenience to the store and EXPECT to have an issue that I DESERVE, Rafael just makes it work. You can hear his smile through the phone and he often drives my orders to the office his self! What more can you...
