Girlfriend and I are on our fourth February visit to Siesta Key, a great relief from the winters of Buffalo NY. Going out to eat here for us means finding some good grouper and key lime pie, both items we can't get up north. We saw a local SK newspaper write up on this restaurant and decided to go. We went for dinner on a Friday night, their lobster roll special night, and OMG, why have we gone anywhere else all this time? Didn't realize it was so popular, only a few tables, and only open until 8pm, so reservations took up the seating except for the counter, so we ate there. Weren't really going for lobster but a retired man and his wife were eating it at the counter and the food really looked delicious. Made sure we ordered right away so there was still some lobster available (was told they do run out of special's), and also reserved one order of the key lime pie. Being at the counter, we were able to watch the food being prepared, and we saw how meticulous the owner and son are preparing their dishes. We felt good being there. Lobster was delicious especially with some drawn butter we requested, and the key lime pie is over the top. We do rate all key lime pies at all Florida restaurants we visit, and this one is easily the best. We knew this place was special when all the patrons we spoke to or overheard talking said they have been there multiple times. We will go back before we return home to the cold winter. Things to know--call ahead for reservations and specials, it's all seafood, go early, some beer and wine available, no coffee, and just one dessert (their key lime pie,...
Read moreWe enjoyed our time at Fresh Catch Fish Market. My wife started with the side Caesar salad which she enjoyed. I had the fresh catch fish sandwich. I went with the mahi mahi, sandwich was very good could tell the fish was fresh. I just got it grilled as well so the fish was the star of the show. The coleslaw was very bland, not my favorite. My buddy got the fish tacos, he said they were good. His potatoes looked good as well. My wife got the happy snapper wrap which was really really good we both enjoyed it. Her rice again was very plain and had no flavor. We were talked into the key lime pie which was the first time I’ve had it so not sure what to compare it to. It was solid not my favorite thing but don’t think I’d love any key lime pie. Service was very nice, but to get our checks and pay had to ask multiple times to get them then had to go up and pay after the waitress never came back. Very odd especially as we were the only ones in the place at the end. Would go back for the fish but wouldn’t get sides or anything else. The vibes were cool with the market as well as cafe, enjoyed being able to see the fish in the display case and people coming...
Read moreYou know me I love to eat and I've ate at almost every place in town. This isn't my first rodeo. I heard good things about this place so I went to try it. Owner was dry and not friendly AT ALL! He had a "I don't care vibe/attitude". Our server was non existent and was definitely more concerned with his new 5 top of rich looking people. He put our food down and left like a Denny's server. Never came back for refills, never gave me crackers with my soup, never gave me lemons with our oysters just didn't care. The oysters were definitely over cooked and shriveled up dry. $27 for over cooked baked oysters! My chowder was decent but was basically a small cup of soup in a flat bowl. The fish sandwich was very good but super small and cost me $18. This place is not it!!! There are so many better seafood places to eat in Sarasota especially for that price. The food and people alone are reason enough not eat here on top of their prices. Walt's Fish Market, Owen's fish Camp, Capt. Curts, Tripletail in the landings even Monk's steamer bar is better than this place. Super...
