Copenhagen Imports — Local services in Siesta Key

I have some mobility issues and my mother saw an ad for a chair that looked like it might be comfortable for me. First, it is a store that is totally accessible for wheelchairs, which is a huge deal for me. Second, the minute we got in the store we were overwhelmed by the number of amazing options we saw in the various rooms. The quality is high and the prices are reasonable for what you are getting. So, I tried the chair, the "Stressless" chair and boy is it! it removes all the pressure points where I have pain and it is adjustable when and where I need it to be. The arms of the chair are completely perfect in height and width. For anyone, of course, but with severe joint issues, this is sooo helpful for my whole upper body. The lower part is so adjustable that I am able to be in comfort head to toe and can adjust it all as needed, easily! The chair has a perfect remote that magnets onto the side. Easy install. I highly recommend.

I worked with Tom, who was such a perfect sales associate. More associate than sales. I feel like he really listened to my needs and provided several options in different price ranges and then helped us as needed. I felt totally in charge with no pressure, it was really like having someone who knew me and was just there to ensure I got just the right thing. He was so helpful and so encouraging and just great to help us find what would be best for me and not just an agenda for what to sell. I never felt like I was hoping to shop alone. He was practically psychic as to when to pop over and when to let us chat about things. That is what comes with empathy and experience. The perfect combination.

On to delivery. Ok, if you want something dropped off, that is not what you get with Gabe and Kyle. They not only delivered the furniture, but they ensured it was placed perfectly, adjusted the rug when it was not centered and Gabe has a real eye for placement and for making an OCD person like me feel like we were on the same team and he was placing things like he would want them, also OCD, lol. Kyle was right there with the heavy lifting and support in making sure things were just right. It felt like designers delivering my furniture. Stayed until I was sure it was perfect because it will stay there forever because I cant moe it. lol

Overall, the store, service, delivery, quality and prices get ALLLLL the stars. If I need anything for my home, I will be back and I hope I need more soon. I love everything we got and the whole experience was above and beyond from everyone with whom I dealt. As someone with some disabilities, I never felt for a second like I was different or being talked down to, which can sometimes lessen the experience. My mom/roommate is normal and she agrees with every word of what I said. She was thrilled with this store, the furniture and every person we met from the beginning to the end. I cannot recommend this store enough. If you need anything, please check it out. You will not be sorry. Also, they have so many accessories that are unique and very much conversation starters. Copenhagen Imports provides what every shopper wants, but rarely finds. When my wife and I relocated to Sarasota in 2000 we had a need for a desk organizer so we could convert a 2nd bedroom in a condo we owned and rented since 1995 as a vacation rental on Siesta Key. While shopping at Copenhagen Imports we found and purchased the perfect desk, file cabinet drawers and collapsible extension desk that was ideal for our needs at that time. When we returned this condo to a beachfront penthouse vacation rental on Siesta Key and moved in to a waterfront 3-bedroom condo in downtown Sarasota, again this well made and designed desk cabinet was exactly what we required to create our office at our new residence. After 22 years of daily use one of the unique hinges that allowed us to close up our desk, file cabinet drawers into a pleasing wood cabinet that discretely returned our 3rd bedroom from an office to a very efficient sofabed bedroom for visiting family and friends. After visiting a number of cabinet supply locations including Lowe's and Home Depot I realized that only the original hinge could repair our clever and efficient desk cabinet storage furniture piece we had grown to love. In desperation I took photos of our broken hinge and door to Copenhagen Imports hoping for some guidance and suggestions regarding this now 22 year old desk that had served us so well. When the salesperson saw my photos she was not familiar with it at all, but suggested I talk to the owner and introduced us to her. She recognized the piece, said they had sold many of them and stated the company was no longer in business. This was close to my expected end of our desk. Turns out the owner had a former employee who did repair work for them in the past. She took our number and said she would follow up with this person to see if he might be able to help us. We later received a call from that person who informed us he did have that hinge, took our address and showed up with hinge, repaired our broken hinge, charged us $50.00 and our 22 year old desk is now as good as the day we first used it. The owner of Copenhagen Imports truly understands "customer service" and provides excellent value to and for her customers. After dragging my husband all over Sarasota, up and down Hwy 41, to find furniture for our new house, he suggested stopping at Copenhagen which we had passed many times. He liked it was smaller and thought we would get more personal service. (Frankly, he wanted this to be over.) And he was right! Our salesperson, Tom, was totally attuned to what I was liking and disliking. He put together a look with fabric samples in the time it took for my husband to play a few games on his phone while sitting comfortably on the couch we ordered. No plans or pictures…just listening and observing. And we were back a few days later for more pieces which was a breeze as we had established “our look”.
