Chose this restaurant en route thru the State, because of proximity to the highway, Customer Reviews and Online Menu.
Located in a strip Plaza with plenty of parking, easily accessible.
We were seated right away, ordered two cups of Matzoh ball soup, I love that our server, Debra Ann, asked if we wanted noodles, he did, I didn't.
We also ordered a pastrami on Rye with Cole slaw. Waiting for soup, I asked Debra how the chopped liver is. She said "oh, it's great, we make everything here." Then she offered me a sample, I loved it & ordered a single scoop appetizer.
Debra brought out a bowl of pickles, and explained the difference between half sour and full sour pickles.
Soon after, our soups arrived, and they were delicious, the broth had just the right amount of seasoning, very homey. The Matzoh ball was fully cooked through with a firm but light texture.
The chopped liver came next, on a large lettuce leaf, accompanied by a nice slice of tomato and red onion. It was missing crackers, but we were already set with plenty of carbs and honestly, it was just so good on its own. It was finely chopped without being pasty, perfectly seasoned, a hint of onion, and nicely moist, not at all oily.
Next was the Pastrami sandwich & Cole slaw, Debra brought a 2nd plate. As I was lifting off my half, the smokiness of the meat wafted up. Taking a bite, the pastrami had just enough fat for flavor without being gross. There was the slightest gristle to it but not so much that it affected the sandwich. In fact, I don't think I've ever had a pastrami that was so deeply flavorful. The rye bread had a fantastic crunchy, chewy crust. The inside was softer and fluffier than true northern rye, but it was so fresh and the flavor was spot on. The Cole slaw, by the way, was perfect. Lightly dressed, lightly creamy, lightly sweet, and very fresh.
Debra had put our orders in so that everything was delivered just a tad spaced apart. So nice to not have everything dropped off all at once, we were able to fully enjoy each course.
After chatting a bit I learned they make EVERYthing in house, I for one SO appreciate every bit of the extra effort!
I'm so sad this place is over 4 hours from home, because I'll absolutely be craving...
Read moreMy brother and his wife had just flown in from Colorado for a visit. He hankered for a Pastrami sandwich (something he cannot get in Colorado) and had researched delis in my area. He picked Gourmet Deli House and I am so happy he did! It is a classic Jewish-style deli.
The food was delicious. I had the corned beef Reuben. My SIL had the turkey Reuben, and my brother had, of course, a pastrami sandwich.
The sandwiches were thick, but because the meats were sliced super thin, when you bit into them they melted into your mouth.
It was served with a heap of fries and coleslaw. Plus, the choice of pickles We each chose half sour as that's what we grew up with. And to me, they tasted homemade. Next time I go in I'll find out.
It's not far off the Turnpike, so it's easy to get to. I know I'll be back soon in fact. I cannot wait for my next visit!

After a Bahamas cruise, I stopped in with family again on my way back to Palm Beach from Miami. I knew Deli House was right off the Turnpike. Easy on and off.
I'm so happy we went there for breakfast. What a feast. It was the best breakfast we had throughout the entire trip. Geralyn was our waitress and she gave us great recommendations. Everything we ordered was cooked exactly how we requested....
Read moreOMG, that’s all I can say!! Such a find, diamond in the rough!! Atmosphere beautiful & peaceful. Service super efficient, quick & pleasant. Desert cases looked super scrumptious. Talk about a super clean restaurant, incredible!! Chicken noodle soup delish. Hubby ordered the Pastrami sandwich & I ordered the “Rachel” super huge sandwiches, tender meat and overall absolutely delicious! Definitely will be back again. So happy to have this fabulous NY Style Deli in our backyard!! WAIT-needed to update, took off 1 STAR: As we left, we stopped for a treat at the dessert counter. Finally decided on a slice of Cheesecake & 2 sprinkled cookies. Totally disappointed when we arrived home and opened the “to go” container and laid eyes on the sad state of the slice that we were presented with. $8.50 for a slice and see pic of what we got. Was not impressed with it as it did taste a tiny bit stale (freezer burned) & was just ok, nothing to get excited about. Guess the size & condition played a part of my distaste as well. The cookies were very dry and not buttery at all, at least NOT up to NY bakery standards. Will go back next time for great restaurant food and skip...
