Jeremiah's Italian Ice — Restaurant in Florida

I wanted to try this location a few times before I left a review, here goes it:

I originally came here as a dasher picking up a customer’s order. I had heard great things about the chain in Tampa so after my dash I planned on ordering some myself. When I arrived they had 3 windows open- the middle was designated SPECIFICALLY for online /door dash/ uber orders so I went to this window to be served. (Plenty of stores have things like this in place because the customer on doordash has already placed their order and paid prior to the customer waiting in line so their order is typically done before a face to face customer). There were 5-6 girls working back there and none acknowledged me until the lines on either side of me were cleared out. The cashier then stuck her head out one of the side windows instead of coming to the middle one designated. I remained at the middle window and advised of the door dash order. The cashier then got the order and brought it to the middle. This was strike 1 for me for many reasons that I’m too exhausted to explain right now but I will say that she could’ve walked up to the middle window the first time but instead chose to use the other window. My next visit went okay. I ordered a mango Italian ice and the cashier thought that I ordered a mix (where they blend the ice cream and Italian ice together) when she came back with a cone with ice cream I advised her that I never ordered ice cream just Italian ice. She made a face and then corrected her mistake. I went a few more times after that with similar experiences but my last visit on my birthday this past week was the final straw. When I first arrived there not only was I not greeted or acknowledged but I witnessed the girl adding sprinkles to someone’s ice cream cone IN THE TRASH CAN. Not hovering over it but literally the cone was IN the trash along with her arm so that she wouldn’t spill any sprinkles onto the floor I assume. This is a MAJOR health code violation. I would avoid this location at all costs. I’m contacting the health department in regards to this issue so that they can do a thorough random...

Every flavor of Italian ice is AMAZING, but I can’t see myself (or my husband, for that matter) order anything but a gelati. The girls at the windows are always SO nice, and the samples are generous so you can really get the flavor preview you’re looking for. My personal faves...orange smash with vanilla ice cream, and strawberry with chocolate ice cream. Definitely come by and try this place out. You won’t be sorry!

Update 5/21/2020 — Staff was not anywhere near as friendly and something about the chocolate ice cream was noticeably different, not as much flavor. No samples allowed “because of the COVID situation”, which doesn’t make sense unless it’s about the business saving money, and if it is they should just say that. Our gelatis were quite messy and sloppy, which we’ve never experienced before. Disappointed with our first trip to Jeremiah’s in almost a year, and probably won’t be back again for another long lapse. We’ve had consistently good experiences with Bahama Buck’s, so we’ll probably just continue...

The Italian ice is really good. I've been to many places and they have tasty and consistent flavors. I feel like defending a couple negative reviews for this place. So here is how I feel:

Bad customer service - I have been here a dozen times and each and every time I am greeted with smiles and young girls willing to work whether I ask for 12 free samples or know what I want

Italian ice Hooters - give me a break. There are young high school girls working there bc that's what most Italian ice places have employed and it's a joke if you're looking for older people or some other type of worker there then go work their yourself. It's a high school type of job. I'm sure the pay isn't through the roof and the expectations are low. Give the girls a break they're serving Italian ice. Get over yourselves.

Someone complained about a flavor - really? They give you "free" samples of any flavor you want. It's your fault if you got a flavor you didn't like.
