La Eskinna Food Truck — Restaurant in Oak Ridge

bf and i were super excited to finally try La Eskinna after the good reviews we've seen, mainly for the birria tacos, and also to support small/local business. when we try a spot for the first time we get a big variety order to sample, so we ordered chips and guac, esquites, a shrimp quesadilla, 4 birria tacos, churro cheesecake, and a horchata.

tldr; first visit - almost forgotten drink, 4 forgotten tacos, bland food. second visit - drink was forgotten, and tacos were underwhelming. management/staff not very personable when it comes to making up for a poor experience.

-out of the cheesecake, told after we were charged and subbed for churros, no biggie. -almost left without the horchata, but thankfully got flagged down (assumed it was the styrofoam cup in the bag, found out at home that was the esquites) -got home and found all 4 tacos were missing, partially our bad for assuming and not checking... called to explain, the manager asked me to come back to get them. stated i had made an hour roundtrip and would prefer a refund, had to give full credit card number and details (sketchy) with part of the number was said out loud (yikes! big no-no for security) but was offered a comped order of churros for my next order for the slip up -ate the food we did get...the good: salsa verde (tomatillo), horchata. the bad: guac was bland, the chips were overfried and thick (crunchy and not crisp? not sure how else to describe the texture), esquites just a cup full of cold, unseasoned corn with cheese on top, quesadilla not very appetizing, and churros stale/theme park-like quality :(

decided to give them a second visit, in order to try the birria tacos. -called to place a pickup order, also wanted to change the comped churros for a different dessert. person on the phone was short with me, told me to text instead of call. got interrupted when asked about the churros, was told they were out of other desserts, so agreed to 2 free tacos for a total order of 6 and a horchata. -food was brought out, checked tacos, wasn't brought the horchata. tried to catch attention resorting to shouting out my car's passenger side window...seemed like i was an inconveniencing the worker by asking for the drink i had paid for. -tbh the birria tacos were just ok imo, consumme didn't really have a lot of flavor

i don't know if something has changed recently with management or the food, but i didn't get the 5-star food or service i'm seeing the hype over, and sadly don't think we'll risk a...

You know you are loved when friends share taco spots with the best tacos!! La Eskinna is doing it all the way right and it is magical. La Eskinna is a truck, located inside a parking lot, this parking lot is amongst other same dirt paved lots, down a labrynth of streets not commonly traversed by cars, but lots of trucks, and shipping containers. You may think you are lost, but you are not, keep going, a reward awaits you! My suggestion, come early, for two reasons, the aforementioned maze of streets/lots, and barely any lighting, and not populated. Be alert, right at the moment you start to think you have got to be lost, you will see two small signs directing you to the right spot. Once you arrive, there is a sign alerting you to stop, host approaches your car, advises the menu is on IG, directs you to a marked parking space to await your server. The lot s not paved. There is alot of dust kicked up. The server promptly approached our car and took our order, four birria tacos, two carne asada tacos, two chicken tacos, two bottled waters and of mild or spicy sauce, I chose mild. Our order was served quickly, maybe 10mins, if that. The other reviews are right, these tacos are small, BUT, goodness gracious are they delicious and filled to the brim, like seriously, they are filled to the top. The birria tacos are amazing, cheesy, flavored, tasty meat. The accompanying consomme is rich and deep flavors, I can imagine this would be delicious atop of a mofongo!! The carne asada, perfectly cooked, flavorful, savory, delicious. The chicken, also, tasty, divine!! The sauce was sooooo good, piquant, spicy, savory, yummy. From the service to the food, La Eskinna has a loyal fan. FYI, they do not...

However, good you think the food looks I can guarantee it’s 10 times better. I ordered off of Uber eats and I had the loaded fries, the flautas the Ramen, and a taco with the chicken. Everything I had is delicious. The Ramen is the perfect combination of umami with the delicious flavors. My original order apparently taken by a different uber driver accidentally and they made sure to call me and make my order very quickly to send out. I can honestly say this is my new favorite restaurant. I’ve got I’m very bored with some of the foods I’ve been eating from local restaurants and I’m very happy that they delivered to me. I can say that the food is very flavorful, and imaginative and seasoned the perfect amount. There is a very subtle amount of spice that is not overwhelming and adds a lot to everything. They also had queso and chips, which were perfectly done. This is my new favorite restaurant and I look forward to taking my friends and family here. I also appreciate the customer service and how carefully the Ramen in the case it was wrapped with saran wrap, so that it did not spill on the way here. They also had allergy written on top of my containers, which makes me feel better about ordering from them with a serious food allergy. It has been about 15 minutes since I started eating and no sign of allergic reaction, so I really appreciate the extra care that went into making sure there was no cross-contamination. 10/10...
