This used to be one of my favorite coffee shops. I spent years coming to Magic City Perks, it was a place to meet friends, celebrate, study, and feel part of the community. Since Anna left, that’s no longer the case.

Since Bert took over the shop, the environment has become extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. He often talks loudly and inappropriately about his divorce, frequently making derogatory, disrespectful, and even misogynistic comments about women. Whether you’re directly involved in the conversation or just sitting nearby, it’s impossible to ignore. It's disturbing to hear that kind of language in what should be a welcoming public space.

Beyond the inappropriate behavior, Bert openly encourages customers to pay in cash or through Zelle... He has said things that imply he doesn’t want anyone - particularly his ex - to know how much the shop is making.

The condition of the shop has also noticeably declined. The walls are dirty, there are bugs, and it looks neglected. On one visit, I even overheard Bert telling someone he’s trying to drive the value of the business down. That explains a lot.

It’s upsetting to see a once-loved space treated this way. I no longer feel comfortable supporting this business and would not recommend it to anyone. Hopefully a new coffee shop opens nearby that respects its customers...

As a fellow barista who has worked in various coffee shops, I can confidently say that it’s rare to come across a place like Magic City Perks that consistently delivers exceptional quality. Making the perfect coffee is truly an art, and Magic City Perks has mastered it. From the moment you walk in, you’re enveloped in a cozy atmosphere that’s perfect for working, chatting with friendly customers and baristas, or just enjoying a peaceful moment.

Supporting a small, family-owned coffee shop like this one is a pleasure, especially when the family is always present, ensuring top-quality drinks, food, and overall experience. But the highlight for me is undeniably the coffee. Even when I’m across the country, I find myself thinking about my favorite Magic City Perks latte. The first sip is pure magic, a testament to their dedication and skill. The way they steam the milk is unlike any other coffee shop in Miami—perfectly velvety and smooth, enhancing the flavor and texture of every drink.
