Came here yesterday with my best friend after having watched Aquaman. I was craving something sweet, but more specifically, a Crave smoothie. I wanted to introduce her to try my favorite dessert smoothie. This smoothie contains bananas, dates, vanilla bean, almond butter, cinnamon, cacao, and almond milk for $8.00. It is thick, rich, and very filling. It is delicious! It'll satisfy any sweet tooth craving. I highly recommend it.
I had not been here since the new ownership, but as we were paying I remembered that if you checked in through Yelp, you get 20% off your order. I checked in and there it was! I showed the cashier and she had no idea what that was, so she takes my phone to the owner and in Spanish he tells me that he had no idea about the promo, that it's a mistake, and then takes a picture of it. Turns out, the new owner (of 2 years) had no idea this promo was still running on Yelp. He did not honor it. The people behind me started asking me how I got it and I told them if you checked in through Yelp the promo was there, but that he was not honoring it. They too were bummed about it.
I understand the owner is not obligated to honor a "mistake" or a glitch in promos or prices as long as it is not intentionally deceitful, but as a business man, in the best interest of the company and for the sake of not upsetting or losing customers, he should've honored the 20% off Yelp check in for the few of us in there. His approach completely turned me off.
On the plus side...
We became fans of Roots Juice Bar when we discovered them 3 years ago (we were sad when the cafe was sold... the new owners must've made him an offer he couldn't refuse). The staff was friendly, the owner engaged his customers, ordering food for pick-up was easy, if you checked in through Yelp, you would get 20% off your bill (sweet! who doesn't love that!?). More importantly, the bowls and smoothies were consistently delicious.
The menu items we loved:
~ Fajita Bowl comes with wild rice, spicy red bell pepper, mushrooms, and guacamole - $9.50
~ Lentil Bowl comes brown rice, broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and sweet potatoes - $9.50
~ Zoodles Bowl comes with zucchini noodles and vegan bolognese sauce - $9.50
~ Quinoa Bowl comes with mushrooms, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, red bell peppers, zucchini, topped with avocado - $9.50
We might be back for their bowls soon. I would imagine and hope that the recipes...
Read moreThis was once my favorite place! I grew up in Homestead Fl. Not many healthy places around period. I moved up north to Ft Lauderdale last year and the difference in service, healthy food, and choices are amazing. That being said my standards have raised as well. I don’t like to give bad reviews or talk down on an establishment who stands for taking care of animals. I was so excited to take my boyfriend to my old “go-to”. Sadly, his first experience was awful. Besides the up beat enjoyable music, there wasn’t anything great here. :(
Maybe they have new management?
I walked in, and saw signs all over about all day breakfast. Asked the girl behind the counter “what is this, in the photo?” Her reply “I um, I have no idea...um....uh....” I laughed because she works there how couldn’t she know what the main photo is in all your signs? Maybe she is new, but she finally got around to asking the man who looks to be the manager. “It’s vegan eggs”
Anyways I order a coffee...and arepa with vegan eggs and mix with vegan cheese and avocado.
30min later “sorry our coffee machine just broke..we can get you something else or refund..”
At this point I was already like why is the coffee taking so long.... we walked in a little after 9am... Almost 10am...we finally get one tiny dinky small arepa with just avocado... we are in the car... I said “TURN AROUND”
We went back and the girl who helped me shy and quiet was pretty sure I just wanted avocado since they don’t make it how I asked.. (I had no idea lol)
Eventually they made me another one... I waisted so much time here on my only Monday off and after everything I didn’t like how either of them tasted, and I still have to go find a place with coffee.
If you’re vegan, and your down here and this is your only option...go. If not, go to...
Read moreToday was my first day eating here, and oh boy what a nice surprise! I had not complaints. Below detailed review.
Food: Is it vegan friendly? Yes it is! In fact the whole place is vegan! Is the food quality good? Yes, it is. I had the Avocado Toast (Smashed avocado, olive oil, chia seeds and gluten free prairie toast) and the Pitaya Smoothie (Raw dragon fruit, pineapple, mango, banana and almond milk). The avocado was fresh and green, not brown and sad. The smoothie was on point! Not too sweet, just perfect. Who would have thought dragon fruit and mango would make such a great combo! What about the food portions? I don't know how many times I have been to a new trendy place only to find portions be just too small. Not at Roots Juicebar. Here the portions are just right. I am a happy customer.
Cleanliness/comfort: During my visit, the place was spotless. The a/c level was just right too.
Customer service: Both the man at the register and the lady behind the counter this morning were very friendly. When I had arrived at 9:30am the place had just opened, ordered my food, sat on the couch. When the friendly man with the shirt that said KALE came over to bring me my food and drink he was kind enough to ask if I wanted to switch to a table because they fill up fast. I respectfully declined. Literally 5 minutes after this the place filled up and so did the table. It's the extra details like that that make me want to come back. Nice service :)
Other comments: The place also has wi-fi and sells their own bottled pressed juices.
Overall, all I can say is this is the juice/healthy place West Kendall had been needing for quite a few years. Great job, guys! I wish you...
