I've gone here a few times with my father and honestly find myself wanting to go back often when I crave some Japanese food.
Atmosphere - It's very quaint and oriental, not too sophisticated or overly decorated, just right and it really adds to the experience.
Service - It was excellent, nothing special or something to be in awe of just excellent as all service should be.
Food - Absolutely the star of the show, the sheer variety alone is a nice thing to see, especially for authentic Japanese food which isn't so common in America, most meals come with clear soup and your choice of fried or steamed rice both choices of rice are great but some choices pair much better with certain entrees, the clear soup is amazing and some of the best clear soup I've had and now for what everyone was waiting for, the entrees, I've had the tempura and pork katsu so far and they're simply amazing, the pork katsu is nice and airy, light and has a beautiful crunch to it and paired with the sauce it's even better, the tempura is similar, nice and airy but has more crunch and in my opinion a better sauce, both give alot of food that I'd be surprised if grown adults can even eat all of.
Finally price, the prices were not horrible but not necessarily cheap either it's about 15$ per person without drinks but it's not bad for the amount and quality of the food.
All in all I give...
Read moreThis place is such a hidden gem. It’s in an older building, but it’s clean, welcoming, and has a great vibe. You can tell right away that people here care about the food and the service.
The service was honestly some of the best I’ve had in a long time. Everyone was kind, quick, and super attentive without being over the top. My friends had been before and told me it was great, and they were right.
They brought us a free appetizer that had a little kick to it. I still don’t know what it was, but it was delicious. Not something I would’ve ordered on my own, but now I’d definitely get it again.
The sushi came out fast and fresh. Every roll was full of flavor and perfectly made. You can tell the chef takes real pride in their work.
Also, I get anxious in crowded or loud places, and this was the complete opposite. It was calm, not overstimulating at all, and just the perfect relaxed vibe to actually enjoy a meal without feeling overwhelmed.
And shoutout to their prices too. In this economy, you’d expect to pay way more for sushi this good. Everything was super reasonable and worth...
Read moreI have tried so many fancy Japanese restaurants in Jacksonville and Orange Park but none of it comes close to this hidden gem. I have been to this place like at least 5 times, the sushi chef and waitress are always super attentive and friendly. Almost forgot to mention, the sushi tastes so good! (My favorites are the shrimp tempura rolls, salmon and tuna sashimi) and I love how they make their sushi rice. (Their homemade shrimp sauce/yum yum sauce too!) Definitely worth your time and money to check out this hidden gem restaurant called Oishi Sushi. You will not be disappointed.
Update Saturday, May 3rd: Just found out this place is under new ownership. The sushi rice have gotten even more tastier than before. The waitress is very attentive and polite. I will definitely be coming...
