This place needs to be shut down. I’ve been here a handful of times now, hoping it’ll get better and it continues to get worse. I went there at 5pm with my son and it was empty. They sat us and said “the waitress would be right over” 15 mins later the waitress comes and takes our drink order, which was two Coke zeros, and doesn’t come back for 10 or more mins, and she only did bc I asked someone where she was. She finally comes back and drops the drinks and we ordered a blooming onion. 20 mins goes by and the blooming onion hasn’t been brought out, our drinks had been gone, and she never even checked on us once. Finally once again I ask where our waitress is, and she is nowhere to be found. Finally she comes and takes our order and I asked where our blooming onion was, and she said “oh let me check” she doesn’t return and goes missing again for atleast 10 mins. I now the third time asked where our waitress is and our blooming onion, and she never returns till she brings our main plate out 20 yes 20 mins later! I then said “we never got our blooming onion” and she runs back brings this ice cold (no joke) blooming onion out that was mushy and so gross! We never ate it and started to then eat our steaks… the sirloin steak I got literally smelled like sour rotten fish and was well done and I ordered medium. I spit it out and asked the front to now for the four time to get our waitress. She comes out, and I tell her what it tasted like and she offers to recook it, but I said no, can you bring a ribeye instead and I even said I’d pay the difference. The manager comes over after that with zero personality, says “your other steak will be out soon” then walks away. 15 mins later he brings the steak out and asks me to cut it and see if it’s cooked right so I did. After he walks away I take my first bite, and once again it smells like sour rotten fish and had a very mushy texture. At that point I didn’t say anything else just asked for the check, boxed up the food, paid and left. They took the blooming onion off but that’s it and honestly the whole meal should of been comped after what we dealt with. I brought the steak home and put it on a plate and asked my oldest son (who is a chef) if he’d like my leftover steak and he said yes… he warmed it up and no lie, first bite he took, he spit it out and said “ this stinks like fish and is 100% rotten mom!” I never mentioned the nightmare story till after just to make sure it wasn’t me and my taste or smell that’s off. I’m so grossed out! I’ll post pics of the grey color rotten steak 🤢🤮 NASTY ROTTEN FOOD, HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT, WORST EXPERIENCE! Shut the...
Read moreTL;DR food pretty good, atmosphere is cozy, and service is pretty good
I havent been to outback in a few years but decided to give it another go. The atmosphere is what youd expect but it seems like this location is very fancy compared to others ive seen. Very dim lit, dark almost but not in a bad way. Its pretty cozy. The service is pretty average. Nothing over the top (i went on a monday so there was no wait) the server was attentive, nice, and brought us plenty of bread. The menu has seemingly shrunk since last time i was there. Though i suppose its not a bad thing if your just going for a steak or pork. Price is about what you would expect from a steakhouse. Expect the average meal to be around 15 to 18 bucks with their steaks being in the 20s. And of couse comes the food itself! I decided to get the Pork Porterhouse cooked medium well with aussie fries and mac n cheese (im a simple man with my sides) the pork is incredibly flavorful and juicy with plenty of grill marks! A thick piece of meat with a light pink in the middle. This stuff will melt in your mouth! Highly recommend. Though it does have a good bit of spices so be mindful if you prefer your meat as is. As for the fries, they have a very clean cut look to them. They taste pretty good! Reminiscent to the batter flavor that a fish house might have for their fish and chips. Not too greasy either. The mac and cheese was definitely interesting and different. It came in a small skillet (like chili's does for most everything cheesy) and looks like average mac and cheese at first until you look at it and see that it almost dry with no cheese. Once i mixed it around i realized the cheese probably all sank to the bottom during cooking and it started looking lime some very dense mac. A bit of a thicker cheese over smooth and gooey but thats ok! Felt less like mom's homemade and more like a fancy cheese pasta side dish. Definetly a lot of spices( black pepper being very prominent) but still pretty tasty! Now there were some minor things that were kind of off or inconvenient. The main thing was that my friend's knife was kinda dirty. It tends to happen with silverware that go through a pull down washer. But the server was happy to bring him a new one. The only other thing was the first loaf of Pumpernickel tasted dry and almost stale but the next few were pretty good. All in all its worth it if you want a more quiet and cozy steakhouse over a loud...
Read moreI set reservations for my my wife’s birthday dinner here on 12/30/18. We were accommodated properly. Previously, our family has had bad experiences with the Sanford location, as far as the steaks being properly cooked to temp. I voiced these concerns with management at this location and I was assured we would be taken care of.
Our wait staff were fantastic. Cudos to you. The manager on duty never checked on our party. I personally saw him check on every party around our table, but not once did he introduce himself and check on our party. We had several guests order mixed drinks, and they all tasted like whatever mix the drink called for ie. jack and coke, 90% coke 10% jack, the Long Island iced tea taste like mixer and coke, etc. We had 3 drinks go back because of improper mixing. By my calculation, with tips, this store should have seen almost a grand in sales and tips. You think you can make drinks right?
To top it off, I specifically told the MOD that we had issues with under/over cooked steaks at the Sanford location. She reassured us that we he not have an issue at this location. We had 3 out of 15 that had steaks that were either under or over cooked. To make matters even better, the one that was under, received an under cook steak first, then an over cooked steak, then an over cooked steak again. By the third time, she just eat it. This is unacceptable. Idc about your staffing issues. Idc about your volume (which btw was not very busy).
Moral is this; Cook staff-mediocre at best, wait staff- excellent, management- garbage.
If your dining with a small group, you will probably be satisfied. If you are dining with a Large group, try Colorado Steakhouse in Sanford, or a smaller steakhouse and pay just the same or a bit more. I had my birthday dinner there in September with the same amount of people. Our steaks were all perfect, THE FIRST TIME, and they actually know how to make drinks.
Very dissatisfied with management and execution tonight. Also, shame on management for your P&L practices with your drink mixing. You could have earned a 5 star review if you weren’t so stubborn!
*The Icing on the cake- we offered to pay more for better drinks and still received watered down garbage. However, bartenders were courteous, professional...
