Friday Pizza Night brought us to the Beach to try Romano's. I noticed that this establishment received numerous good reviews on Google about its food, so we were hopeful that the pizza would be good. This restaurant was in a crowded strip area off A1A. Parking was a bit tight, but we were early so we found a place nearby. The restaurant was small, and we had our choice of seats. The first thing we noticed was rather loud music playing near our seats . We did ask our waitress to lower the volume so we could hear ourselves talk, but the music played on. So much for a quiet dinner........ Vicki chose the antipasto salad. I ordered the Margarita Pizza. Vicki asked for bottled water or ginger ale, but was told the restaurant served neither. We settled for water. My pizza came in a reasonable time. Unfortunately it seemed to be all mottled mozzarella cheese and very little red sauce. It turned out to be one of the worst pizzas that I've ever had. I realize that pizza in Florida is very different than pizza in the Northeast (where I'm from), but this pizza was bad. Vicki said her salad was okay, but nothing to write home about. The service here also was lacking, for the very young waitresses seemed to forget we were the only customers in the house...... I'm not sure why this restaurant got such glowing reviews for its food and service. We both agreed we...
Read moreI asked if the cheese was rennat free (animal product that I'm allergic to) and they complied to find out and they didn't which was nice. Nice staff but one guy was in his pajama pants which I find that odd in a restaurant. The place wasn't that busy but probably needed a deep cleaning by the looks of the place. Paint was chipped, a spot of tomato sauce of the sorts in the middle of the floor; actually now taking another look around, there's a spot of it everywhere unde some of each table, and tables covered in a drab looking cloth. I see like six-seven orders sitting in the window for take out. I waited a good 25 minutes. The mozzarella sticks I ordered tasted like they where frozen then microwaved, no grease like they where supposed to have if they where fried. Mozzarella Sticks=Terrible. For the pizza, the crust was thin, the cheese was good and the olives gave it taste. It tasted like a pizza you could get at a store and heat it up in the oven for five to six bucks. The sauce was a bit heavy and bland. Overall, the service was fine and the food...
Read moreHuge pizza fan who lost my favorite local pizza place, Pele's Pizza (cooked in wood burning oven) which happened to be a truck parked on 312 + a1a s. Unfortunately it had wheels and did run, so did...to a different location. Don't fall for great food on a truck, they always move! However it gave me the opportunity to give Romano's Pizza another chance. Previously, I had their meat pizza (pepperoni) and told they didn't have fresh garlic only powder (that's not garlic to me) however they now not only have freshly chopped garlic, but were happy to indulge and give what was requested - lots of extra garlic! Oh yeah, let them add spinach, mushrooms & very nice cherry tomatoes! All ingredients tasted as if you purchased the produce from County Line (on 207)--and came from your kitchen...was delicious. Had lots of cheese and nothing was spared, I throughly enjoyed it and ate leftovers cold later that night and loved it still. Was not cooked in wood burning oven however, is not mobile and is closer to me so they will now have my...
