Worst meal and dining experience ever! What has happened to Stonewood Tavern in Heathrow? We had been there many times and always brought our friends and out of state guests there for what used to be a quiet and delicious dinner. Never again! Despite our reservation for 7 people, we were made to stand at the entrance area for 15 minutes while the "waitress got ready". The hostesses were indifferent, and actually rude. We were finally seated at a table in a terrible location, in a very busy area which was so loud that we could not even have a conversation, with a very loud and annoying waiter who constantly yelled "corner" as busy servers were running by. (Perhaps they should mount a mirror on the wall if the foot traffic was a problem rather than constantly yell, turning what was supposed to be a relaxing experience into a circus. There were other more acceptable tables which would have accommodated our party and been in a more quiet area condusive to conversation. Although it was Happy Hour, apparently they no longer make Bloody Mary's at this location...according to the waitress that was a "seasonal drink. "(The old Stonewoods made the best Bloody Mary's in the area). Our meals were terrible; burnt chicken, extremely small and overcooked fish portions, burnt skin on the baked potato, although the potato itself was so cold the butter did not melt, overcooked prime rib, and missing ingredients which were listed on the menu but not actually served. The quality of the food was very poor, yet they had no problem putting a mandatory 20% tip on the bill. We were extremely embarrassed to have brought our friends there and disappointed that what used to be one of our favorite places to eat had become so bad. Perhaps this will be the next restaurant in the Lake Mary/Heathrow area to close. Looking forward to whatever restaurant will take...
Read moreI've been to several of the Stonewood restaurants in the north Florida area and they seen to be hit or miss on did and service. This review is specific to one located in Heathrow my gf took me to on my birthday. The restaurant was spacious and accommodating and the service was good. I was going to have a steak but decided on the the peach glazed pork chop with loaded mash special the waitress recommended and assured me was large. It wasn't.. and it didn't taste as good as it should have, Once you get beyond the thin glaze, the pork chop had absolutely no flavour. My gf had the chicken pasta special and said it was ok but she only ate about 1/3 of her dish so I think she was just being polite. They didn't carry non carbonated bottled spring water so we both ordered Perriers, an ice tea for her and a Lemon Drop Martini from the 5 $drink special for me. To say the drink was weak is an understatement. It was as if they dipped their finger in the Stoli Vodka and flicked it into my drink. I'm no alcoholic, but I enjoy good Martini whenever I'm having dinner out and I know a watered down Martini when I get one. When I brought it to the waitress attention, she apologized and said it was the bartenders first day. She took the drink back and returned with the drink "fixed". I took a sip, and she asked if it was ok, which I initially thought it was. After another sip from the top, there was literally no more vodka taste in the drink which leads me to believe they topped off my drink with another finger flick of vodka. Either that or their Vodka is literally super watered down. At that point, I gave up on the drinks. So b much for the birthday dinner. I won't return to that Stonewood again and it's a shame because the waitresses were very sweet and attentive, but unfortunately, the food and drinks were...
Read morePopular place for a Tuesay night. This was our first visit with friends who used to live in the area and it was one of their favorite restaurants. We enjoyed the place immensely. Our server was extremely Pleasant and helpful with the menu. We did not feel rushed at all. We set in a large roomy booth for 6 people. The appetizers were ample. The bruschetta was fabulous. Everyone enjoyed their mail. I had an 8oz sirloin and it was cooked to Perfection and was extra thick. It had a lot of good flavor and the reason I gave the review for stars instead of 5 is because though it was tender it wasn't the most tender steak I've had from another chain Steakhouse. But all things considered it was very good. My husband had the ahi tuna and he said it was one of the best he had had. The only complaint he would make about it is that it only came with what would have been some sort of a side of slaw and you are allowed to substitute that so we did get the glazed brussel sprouts instead and we felt that the portion of the side was meager. Normally they charged 454 these glazed brussel sprouts but the portion size was quite small on that. My state came with one side also and I chose a baked potato. Prices are fair and it's some place you can go out to celebrate a nice family or personal event or just to hang out at the restaurant or bar. They also serve a basket of bread varieties that were nice and fresh and warm and that was a nice accent to our meal. Though it was a little far from our home in about 35 minutes from Tavares, we would consider going back for...
