Tony's Chicago Beef Co. Southside (aka Frosted Mug) — Restaurant in Florida

All 4 of us had the beef today. It was the first time here for all of us. You order at the counter outside the you can either sit outside or inside. We chose inside because we had been out in the heat all day. There is a small window shaker inside that isn't big enough, but it was cooler than out in the sun. The food came out quickly and they brought it right to our table. We all like Portillo's and while this was one of the better beefs we have had in Florida, it does not measure up to Portillo's. My mom however likes Mr Beefs in Cape Coral (my wife and I do not), but my mom liked this better than Mr Beefs. Food was fast and hot. We will be back again and I intend to try the Chicago Dog. If you are looking for something fancy or full service then this is not the place for you. We had 4 beefs sandwiches an order of fries, cheese fries and onion rings and the total was 56.00 with tip. I don't think I would give 20 % tip again just for food to be brought to the table, but all in all we...

What happened? My wife and I are from Chicago and when we first started getting the beef and dogs from this place it was like the heavens opened up, it was a perfect taste of back home. This morning we returned and the bread was obviously frozen and reheated for both the dog and beef they were hard and chewy. Being in the restaurant business for over 30 years I know the urge to want to save cost but bread is something that makes or breaks the sandwich. The beef even seemed very dry this time and on the salty side. Very disappointing seeing as though we we thought we found a place even if it was a 25 minute ride we found it well worth the drive and time. We will be rethinking next time. Please Tony's stay fresh and stay strong the people will catch on!

Update 05/29/2020: We tried again and it was just as amazing as the first couple times so I am changing my review back to 5 stars again. i guess that one time was just a bad day and hey...everyone has them...

I've been coming here for years and recommended the place to a lot of people but I haven't visited it since late 2022. The girls at the counter are always professional and super nice. The place got upgraded and looks way better than it did years ago.

Last night I've ordered my favorite, Kielbasa Dog and Bacon Burger. I did not receive my bacon, and it happens sometimes but I always come back, let the girls know and they double it up. Although I am not sure if I will be coming back. This was my last meal since breakfast yesterday. After a few hours I've started having gas issues and the next morning I was completely sick, as in whole body shut down. Had to go to the bathroom a few times and sleep it over. Something has changed... the food also did not taste as I remember. Perhaps it was the lettuce/tomatoes or pickles as they are not cooked but the patty. Never had this issue with Tony Chicago, this is a first time, but i want to bring this...
