Stopped in to get some ice cream. Menu looked great and the ice cream flavors looked fantastic. I waited about 3 mins for the 2 girls to look up from their phones, and then one said "Hi..." like I was bothering her... went back to her phone for a few more seconds, then turned on the (very loud) shop music, and asked for my order. (The other girl disappeared). I asked for 2 scoops of the cappuccino chocolate swirl (or something like that). She took 2 cups over, and started scooping. She brought me the first one (it looked a little small for 2 scoops, but okay), and then started scooping again for the other cup. I went over trying to get her attention to stop her, as I only wanted one order (of 2 scoops). I waved, called "Ma'am? Ma'am!" A few times, and she didnt look up or respond, so I just gave up and went back to the register. She brought the 2nd cup, and I said "I only wanted 1 order of 2 scoops." She said "yes, those are each one scoop. Oh... you wanted them BOTH in the same cup?"
Now let me say, part of this is an issue I have with myself, I'm owning that... but I'm not the most secure about my weight... I'm not in BAD shape (143 lbs at 5'2"), but I'm NOT in the shape I'm used to being, and I'm struggling with the feelings that come with it. That may make someone ask "then why were you getting ice cream?" Well, I had a rough morning of doctors appointments with not good news, and thought I'd let myself have some ice cream for the first time in I-cant-tell-you-how-long. Again, I'm aware that my perception of it may be my own insecurity, BUT poor the customer service attached to it did NOT help.
And now I'm carrying 2 cups like an idiot because the girl seemingly felt like it shouldn't have all been for me.
The positives: The ice cream IS delicious. The scoops are actually a decent size (once I realized it was 1 scoop, not 2). Great menu. Store was clean and brightly lit.
The atmosphere could be really cool in there if there was...
Read moreWe must have just visited on an off day because our experience does not reflect what other customers have reported in reviews. The two young ladies working, barely spoke a word to our family, much less create a welcoming entrance when we came in. It smelled like smoke in there, which was very strong and odd considering how clean the store appeared to be. The prices for this area are not surprising but the quality of the items ordered was below expectations for that price point. My Green Acai bowl was literally like soup. I have had Acai bowls across the country and nothing like this today. My kids are convinced she purposely served it that way because of some facial expressions shared between the two employees. I am not as quick to assume that but definitely think training needs to happen for that item alone. The pics shown by other consumers shows what I was hoping to have, but mine was without any ginger as advertised and definitely heavy handed on the spirulina powder and liquid. I live spinach, spirulina type smoothies and drink almost daily; this was basically liquid spirulina at best and far from a viscous Acai bowl or even a smoothie consistency. The top was not with a beautiful presentation or a tasty experience and it was literally leaking out of the container all over my hands, body and vehicle. Boba tea was also watery and not very strong taro flavor we are accustomed to. The ice cream was reportedly good according to our teenagers. Pros: Menu selection is large, store is clean and spacious, location is convenient, prices are reasonable for the location and portion. Cons: customer service needs basic training on being communicative and how to prep and serve a true Acai bowl. Even paid extra to have pineapple added on top and she blended...
Read moreOn our first night in Destin, we stopped by the Walmart near this place and I took notice that they served boba tea. We originally were gonna try it some other day of our vacation, but after the utter chaos that was Walmart evening on a Saturday, my fiancé decided I needed something to chill us both out.
I screamed when I saw Pikachu in the window. I’m like a small child when it comes to plushies and especially cute critters, but that totally drew me in even more. I saw the cute Wave Destin light and selfie corner and knew this place was so neat! And all this was before the boba and ice cream.
I ended up getting matcha boba with tapioca pearls, and my fiancé got the Brownie Batter ice cream. According to my fiancé, it was the best ice cream he had ever had. My matcha boba was delicious. Matcha is one of my favourite flavors and it didn’t disappoint. I think next time I’m gonna order the light bulb bottle for it!
The prices are a little steep but IMHO, they’re worth it. I bought the Pikachu (who is huge, but a tad bit expensive for an unofficial product; however, I am GLAD I bought him!) in addition to the two desserts. I can’t wait to come back tomorrow on our last day.
One last thing: I loved the artwork painted on all the walls. This place is...
