On November 3, 2024, I visited this bar with my husband. Initially, we had an amazing time — great drinks, a cozy atmosphere, and friendly patrons and bartender. We laughed and talked for hours, so writing this review was a tough decision, but I just haven't been able to shake the thought of the unprovoked hostility I experienced from the owner, Jeanne Blanton, and feel future customers need to be warned. I probably would have thought twice if I'd read something like this prior to trying the place, and wish I had.
When Jeanne arrived, I was excited to meet her. I'd been told I'd get on well with her and was very impressed by the bar she ran so smiled, offered to buy her a drink, and tried to be friendly. Shortly after, I noticed she was beginning to close down, so I mentioned my own experience in bartending as a friendly gesture, letting her know we’d be leaving promptly. Then, without warning, she turned the interaction into a bizarre confrontation. First she asked my name and star sign, something I thought was in good fun so answered honestly. Next she told me I was atypical for my sign, accusing me of being “rude and disrespectful” for supposedly speaking over her. Seemingly I was perceived this way exclusively by her, given that we’d been nothing but welcomed by the bartender and patrons all evening (to the point of our tab being bought out twice!).
Stunned, I apologised repeatedly, though in hindsight, I had absolutely nothing to apologise for. Jeanne then made a pointed, and quite frankly misogynistic remark, that the only reason others in my life hadn't been informing me I was “rude and disrespectful” was because I was “young and beautiful.” Not only was this comment wildly inappropriate and patronizing but also hypocritical, considering she’d spoken over my husband for most of the conversation.
As a former bartender myself, I would never dream of shaming a paying customer — let alone driving them to tears — over such a minor perceived slight. Jeanne’s behavior was a shockingly poor reflection of the bar and created a truly sour ending to what had otherwise been a perfect night. Having read the reviews noting how friendly she supposedly is, I was thoroughly caught off guard. Perhaps I caught her on a bad day, but if all it takes is a bad day before you start berating your own customers, you probably shouldn't be in the hospitality business.
Aside from the owner, the bar was delightful, with equally high quality found in the bar, food and decor and upheld by friendly and talented staff. I’d been looking forward to returning and supporting what appeared to be charming local spot, but unfortunately such a foul interaction with Jeanne has made...
Read moreI used to go here in high school and loved it. My how times have changed. I was stoked to go back, but left disappointed. The pizzas, while loaded with toppings, fell flat taste wise. Personal preference, I know. The building and bar haven't changed, and that's a good thing. I love stepping back in time. Super cool inside. Here's my biggest complaint: I was charged for a $10 cheeseburger that I didn't order. TBH, I didn't even notice as I'm a dude and never look at receipts. It wasn't until a couple of days later, my wife was looking and jokingly asked if i ate a cheeseburger while waiting on the pizzas. If you're getting a carry out, PLEASE check your receipt. This will prevent me from...
Read moreWe had never been here before and wanted to try a new place for a good burger and pizza. We ordered over the phone and picked the food up.
Pros: ordering over the phone was very easy. The cheese burgers were hearty and delicious and we really liked the fries.
Cons: the website doesn’t work, so we had to go off of the menu pictures posted here on Google. They are very outdated so we were weren’t sure what the prices would be and one of the things we wanted was not available anymore. The pizza wasn’t great. It was cold, the crust was hard, and it was just overall bland. We only took one bite of it. It seems like it may have been sitting there a while, but we showed up within the window...
