Only have delivery experience through the Papa John's Google Play app, and usually order 2 pizzas at one time. They outsource delivery to DoorDash, which makes things a little confusing, with no way to leave a review for your delivery driver as far as I am aware. But other than that, the overall experience with the delivery ordering process is pretty straightforward and USUALLY a pleasant experience.
When I first started ordering delivery last year it was really good for a few months. Then I started getting one undercooked pizza - consistently. The bottom of the pizza looked fine, but the dough beneath the toppings was cold, stretchy and raw. Like, every single time for several months. Not sure if they have multiple people managing the dough stretching and one person doesn't do quite as good of a job, or if they have multiple ovens and one is malfunctioning... Or they simply pull the pizzas too early or crank up the heat to save time, but something isn't right and it seriously effects the food quality. Ocassionally the original crust pizzas I would order would be stretched super thin as well, making the crust rubbery in texture and difficult to chew.
I also order extra mushroom through the app quite frequently, but it never appears that they add extra. But that's a minor concern and could just be the app or the way orders are listed on the prep floor. I have had one or two bad (DoorDash!) delivery drivers, where one person had a child that looked like he was 10 yrs old walk through the grass and place them on the concrete step without knocking or calling to let us know they had been delivered. One other time no knock, no call, but at least they left them in a DoorDash bag. And one delivery where the guy must have been speeding or slammed on the brakes, because there was only cheese and toppings on half of the pizza lol.
Unfortunately, outside of Uber and DoorDash ordering, they're the only budget pizza place (or most any fast food) that delivers in this area, and/or accepts cash for delivery. Pretty basic and high margin of error in terms of food quality in my opinion, but it is nice to have them available for people like me who don't have a car or much money to order delivery.
They do shine in terms of their prices!
Also note, the Delivery Fee is NOT a tip for your driver. Please tip your drivers! They deserve it when all goes well, and not only do they have gas to pay for, but future potential repairs for wear and tear on their vehicles. If I can't afford a tip, I don't order delivery or eat at a restaurant. Yes, companies should pay drivers and servers more, but until they do, I'm tossing them a few dollars for their time, expenses, and...
Read moreI've ordered many times from this location but had very inconsistent service. My past 3 attempts to get your basic pizza delivery have been so bad that I'm giving up. In each of these instances I tipped generously ahead of time, but that apparently has no influence on getting food even sort of on time. Or ever.
I placed an order for delivery, and it never arrived (and being hangry for hours while expecting your order is really not an experience one would ever wish to pay for). I tried to call the store multiple times only to have it ring several times and drop the call. I contacted the PJ customer service chat for help and was told that I needed to get the store to resolve it, so I submitted a complaint form via the website. No response. I could not get through by phone for 6 days. I had corporate resubmit the complaint several days after it was supposed to have been resolved. Finally, midday on a Saturday someone picked up my call and said, "Thank you for calling Papa Johns! Please hold," and left me on hold for 30 minutes. When they eventually deigned to reconnect with me I requested to speak with a manager, who explained away the phone issue as a technical problem earlier in the week and was not particularly apologetic-- I had to ask for any sort of compensation (got a coupon for a free 2-topping pizza in the mail a week later).
So, still craving pizza and willing to give them another chance (and it's a pandemic, my restaurant food options are limited), I tried to order from them that same day. The pizza arrived this time, but 45 minutes late.
And most recently, my family ordered delivery after the dinner rush with hopes that it would arrive quickly. After placing the order, the confirmation email said it would be 120 minutes, which is really stretching the limits of reasonable service anyway-- and then it arrived 30 minutes beyond that window and cold at 11 p.m.! That was 2.5 hours for 1 pizza from a restaurant 15 minutes away.
That's enough. This is bad management. Only order from this restaurant if you're hoping for a "Papa-sized" side of...
Read moreDon't do it. I used to order from here once per week because it's one of the only places that still takes cash upon delivery. Since the beginning of this year I have had nothing but quality issues, ranging from: The dough being stretched far too thin on original crust pizzas, resulting in rubbery crust that's nearly impossible to chew. Receiving pizzas with ingredients on them that I didn't order (most likely not cleaning cutting tools, which is a health hazard). Receiving pizzas with missing ingredients that I did order. When calling in about it, was told "Sorry, we were out", laughed at and hung up on without offering to remake or refund. Ordering pizzas with extra sauce and receiving pizzas with sauce around the far edges, but NO sauce in the middle and standing water on the pizzas. Undercooked or rancid meat ingredients. When calling in, gen manager Ay. tells me she hasn't had any other complaints, she doesn't believe me, and that there's a new store policy starting 2 months ago where customers are required to bring food back to the store in order to receive a refund. When I had 2 other managers refund immediately over the phone within that 2 month time frame with no issue whatsoever. This place is a joke, and a health hazard. As you can probably see by the overwhelming amount of other 1 star reviews in the comments here. They outsource delivery through DoorDash to avoid hiring locally and reduce their overhead, and outsource customer service overseas as well. Capitalizing profits over customers. Eat at your own risk. And good luck getting a refund. You're gonna need it with the way they run this "establishment."
I ordered here weekly, and thanks to GM Ay.'s attitude w me over the phone this store just lost about 200 per month from me. Never any response from the official feedback forms on their website either, so don't bother with that. Nor is there any clear way to contact corporate or the store owner or regional manager. Papa John's needs to be investigated by the BBB and health department...
