We came to celebrate my sons 8th birthday. Our server took 30 minutes to bring drinks (20 to even get the drink order). Okay, just busy. It’s fine, I’ve been a server before. Then our hibachi chef came and he was outstanding! Great food and wonderful service, he made my son feel special for his birthday. We saw a group of three employees come to the table next to ours with instruments and sang happy birthday to that table. My son got very excited and was hoping for the same experience. At the end of our meal, I reminded our server that it was my sons birthday and that he was hoping they could do the same song and music for him. Our server (receipt says Sean) told us no. They don’t do birthday songs during lunch, only at dinner. I told him that we just saw them do it for another table and he told me it was because they knew the group. My son was very upset. As was I. His feelings were hurt. Even the other family at our table told our server that it wasn’t right of them to say no. My son is eight, he doesn’t care about that reasoning. We came to celebrate him. I got our bill and went to the front to speak with the manager. He also told me that the group were friends of his and they weren’t going to do the birthday song for my son. I stood there with the manager as I wrote a $0 tip and left. The server was the issue I thought, but apparently it’s also management. Our chef was still wonderful and the only good part of our lunch. But - I highly recommend you go elsewhere for hibachi if being a kind person is important in who you give your money and...
Read moreRestaurants have to step up and change with the times and environment, to make eating out and dropping a hundred bucks on a very unimpressive meal an experience worth leaving the house for again. We ate there last night, and the service was surprised and scarce, at best. There were four of us, I ordered first, and the waiter seemed to be surprised that the other three wanted to order too. Then, I asked for sugar to go with my tea - which is a very strong and misguiding word for what I actually received, and his tone was confused, so he asked to clarify why I asked for sugar to go with chicken fried rice.
Ya'll.
Our food came out about ~five minutes apart. Dude spilled the sauces on the table beside me without apology, cleanup or acknowledgement. The adult beverages were disgusting - both parties that had them said they tasted dirty. We had to ask multiple times for drink refills, which were met with more surprise. It's like the waiter had never ever been out to eat before, and was caught off guard with every part of the pretty standard process.
The sushi was good, thankfully, because bad sushi is not something anyone wants to experience.
Asahi has always been a reliable experience for us, but can't say we're motivated to go out to eat here again. Now that we've been eating more at home, which is fresher, organic, tastier, less expensive and a much more pleasant experience all around ... restaurants have to step up their game. Improve their quality of food, service and make it an experience worth...

We came here quite by chance, as we were looking for Japanese food, and wanted to find a new place... And boy are we glad we did! This is the FIRST and ONLY place that knows how to cook salmon "steaks" the correct way! It always amazes me how restaurants over cook salmon, making it dry and meat like. But here, I asked, as I usually do, for the salmon to be seared on both sides at high temperature, and warm on the inside... And to my amazement, that's exactly how it came out! It was PERFECT!
And everything else we order was just as good! We even had a chance to meet the previous owner, a wonderful woman from Taiwan (home of my wife) who is as amazing as her restaurant. So told me that one of the secrets of their salmon, is that it is sashimi quality! And believe me, this is proven by the taste and texture, it really is. So actually, it's a tremendous value too, as the portion is generous.
The restaurant has recently been sold, and it's our hope that the new owners recognize that it is the quality of the food that has kept people coming back to this restaurant time after time. That, and the hospitality of the previous owner, and her training of her staff. Hopefully the new owner will not try to "cheapen" the product, or cut corners as is often the way with new owners. Because if they keep it the way it is, then we will be very...
