If this review was only based on food, I would probably leave 3.5 stars. Unfortunately, the service was well below acceptable standards last night.

To begin, I called on New Year’s Eve to make reservations for a party of 5 for hibachi. I asked for a seating time of 7:00. The woman who answered the phone said they were booked, but could get us in around 8:45. I told her that would not work as we have a movie to see at 9:00. I was about to say goodbye and try another restaurant when she asked if we could come at 6:45. I told her we would definitely be there. She took my name and number and the reservation was set.

We arrived at 6:30 and checked in at the hostess stand. The restaurant was packed. I asked how long the wait would be and the hostess said that everyone inside had a reservation and she would be able to seat us in about 20 to 25 minutes. We felt this was an acceptable wait and went to the bar to have some cocktails.

After about 30 minutes, I asked the hostess when they would be able to seat us. She told us that we were next in line and they are waiting for a table to be cleared for us. In the meantime, several people who arrived after us were seated. They cleared a table and a party of 13 who arrived after us was seated around 7:25. We were still waiting.

At 7:30, I asked to speak to the manager. The hostess said that the bartender was the manager. I spoke with Leo and explained that we arrived at 6:30, we had 6:45 reservations, and that we’ve been waiting for an hour for a table. I said that I would give him an opportunity to fix this issue. He asked me to wait and checked with the hostess. He came back and said that we’d be next to be seated. We waited another 20 minutes before we were finally seated at 7:50. After we were seated, it took about 20 minutes before the drinks, soups, and salad were served. After that, things moved quite quickly and we were finished with dinner around 8:50.

The food was good, but not great. My problem with the restaurant is how they completely mismanaged the evening.

First, if they were truly so busy, the woman I spoke with should have told me and not asked me to come at 6:45. We did as SHE instructed us to. I understand capitalism and they wanted to make as much money as possible. But, making a profit at the expense of customer service rarely works out.

Second, they were grossly understaffed for the evening. I saw a party of 16 be seated and not get served for over 20 minutes. Finally, they all got up and walked out. Several people that evening walked out.

Third, the manager was the bartender. If they were booked solid and had all these reservations, then they should have had a dedicated manager (or two) to MANAGE the restaurant. Instead, the manager was too busy pouring beers and making cocktails to oversee the proper functions of the restaurant. He was a very nice gentleman, but the evening simply overwhelmed him and his staff.

My issue with all of this is that they treated us (and others at the restaurant) like we would be treated by an airline. They overbooked the restaurant, bumped reservations, were understaffed, and provided poor customer service. All of this so that they could maximize their profits for one evening. At least an airline would try to do something to compensate the customers they upset. The manger didn’t even offer an apology. There is no telling how many customers they lost last night and how many others will be leaving bad reviews or telling friends, co-workers, and family. Their business plan for last night was broken and because of that, they have lost at least...

Absolutely the worst restaurant experience till date. This is my second visit to this restaurant first time I had very little complaints, this time around - let’s get started.

I had a reservation set for 9:00pm on 04-14-2018, just this past Saturday. Let’s make a list.

Me and my fiancé requested different margaritas on their menu yet were given the same margarita.

They ran out of Salad so we couldn’t order the complimentary salad on the side with our food, what type of place runs out of Salad ......

Ordered sushi of the deep fried menu and got regular sushi, not fried. I suckered it up and ate it because I was hungry.

I order the filet migon (medium well) and lobster, my fiancé order the same but (well done ) with chicken and 2 sides or rice, mine spicy and hers not. After waiting the server brings out the foods he gets her food, meat not well done and I get my food, completely wrong order, they didn’t even get the double rice and spicy right.

They had to go remake my order and if you’re with your significant other you don’t want to eat without them, so my fiancé waited. They finally brought out my food right at closing. We couldn’t even eat our meal and had to get it to go because of this.

Ended up getting home and found hair in my food so we both doscarded our meal in the trash.

Not at any point did the manager come and apologize or rectify the situation for a whole dining experience that not a single thing was correct . Nothing was correct on this order but yet I paid $120.00 to not even get to taste the food.

Horrible customer service, lousy service and cold food. Please read before you even make an attempt to go to this place.

I for sure will not recommend this place nor come here again.

Will be reviewing on my acocounts on...

We chose Hanaya for our Christmas Eve dinner reservations. We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and Christmas Eve seemed like the perfect celebration to do so. Unfortunately, we were very underwhelmed.

Our waitress was the highlight of our experience. She was very attentive and on point. She gets five stars. Our hibachi chef was good as well - very entertaining presentation with a couple new tricks we haven’t seen before.

However, the food was average at best. We only had hibachi, so maybe the sushi is better? I had the hibachi tofu, and it was simply not good. I realize tofu is probably not an entrée that many people choose, but it was extremely gritty and difficult to eat. My husband said his shrimp and chicken were okay.

Behind the festive Christmas lights, and the restaurant itself seemed to need some interior refreshing. I also have mixed feelings on the large screen TVs that are over the hibachi tables. While it was nice to keep an eye on the Cowboys game, most folks don’t choose a hibachi restaurant as their football watching destination.

The whole experience felt rushed. I understand that it was Christmas Eve and perhaps on a different evening we would have not felt like our dining experience was a race to the finish, but that is unacceptable at this price point. We were not offered a dessert menu or coffee, and I found myself gulping down what was remaining of the single class of wine I had as the staff was prepping the table for...

Hanaya Asian Fusion - Flower Mound One of the best fried rice in town! Staff always happy and greet returning customers. Rice is such a delicate dish, like fish. You can undercook, or overcook it. This place… Nails it, every time. Both white and fried. Most of the time I prefer white rice, much healthier. But, there’s something magical happening with your taste buds when you eat their fried rice. Almost hard to put it in writing. I encourage you to visit and try it for yourself. Be the judge. The dishes are always, generous and presentable. The side salad with a pink dressing are among of my favorites. Salad always looks fresh, full of great ingredients. Side soup is always fresh, hot and delicious. Even though it’s located at Lakeside, Flower Mound, every time I’ve visited, I’ve never felt in Flower Mound. They’ve done a great job making you feel transformed into a place of relaxation and enjoyment. Always clean and well lit. Bar area is another of my favorites to highlight. I don’t drink alcohol but I’ve always appreciated a good bar setup. It’s elegant and simplistic. And, of course, I can’t forget that they have additional seating area if you want to have a fun presentation of watching how your food is made. Highly recommend! I’ve eaten at both sides and the service is always outstanding. I’ve never had a bad experience. If you’re looking to have a nice time and great fresh food, “Hanaya Asian Fusion,” is the right spot for you. I can’t recommend it enough.

Visited Hanaya Hibachi Sushi & Asian Fusion in Flower Mound with friends, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Hanaya truly offers the best Japanese food in town! The cozy, contemporary setting made for a perfect evening, and the performing chefs at the hibachi grill added an extra layer of excitement to our dining experience. Watching them expertly prepare and cook our meal right before our eyes was both entertaining and impressive. The food was phenomenal—the sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. The ramen was rich and satisfying, with a perfect blend of textures and taste. Every bite demonstrated the high quality and attention to detail in their dishes. What truly set our visit apart was the outstanding hospitality from our waitress. She was attentive, friendly, and went out of her way to ensure that we had everything we needed, providing excellent recommendations and keeping our drinks refilled. Speaking of drinks, the fully stocked bar offered a diverse selection of cocktails and beverages that perfectly complemented our meal. If you’re looking for a memorable night out with friends, family gatherings, or simply an exceptional dining experience, I highly recommend Hanaya. This spot is a true gem for Japanese cuisine, blending great food, fun, and excellent service in one delightful package!" --- 🍜🥩🥣🥦🥢🍤
