Joy Chinese Cuisine — Restaurant in Flower Mound

I have been eating here for a few years and probably ate here a couple dozen times with no issues. Food has always been great, service has always been great, prices and atmosphere have always been great. However, after seeing a post from a couple of days ago and what’s happened to me and my family these past 48 hours I thought this review should be posted as all 3 of us have food poisoning. One of us is still in bed and got it real bad. For myself, it was pretty bad yesterday but I’m sort of recovering somewhat today but still not feeling great and my wife had it very mild but none the less she was sick as well. Not sure if it was possibly a bad batch of food, food was undercooked, etc. but it was definitely food poisoning as we were all feeling good prior to having dinner and then we all got sick during the next 8-12 hours. We had appetizers and 3 entrees and shared all the food so I can’t say for sure which dish it was. Again, I haven’t had issues in the past at this restaurant and if it wasn’t for the previous post from 2 days ago about someone else having food poisoning – I wouldn’t be posting this but this needs to be known. An absolutely terrible experience. My wife and I ordered appetizers and entrees. Her egg rolls were served and we sat and waited for my crab rangoon. A few minutes later the waiter brought our entrees and said the crab rangoon would be out shortly. I questioned why both courses were being served at once and he indicated that the cook had prepared both at the same time and he didn't want our entrees to sit in the kitchen and get cold. I couldn't get anywhere with him so I asked to speak to the manager. After a short wait the manager came over and provided the same explanation - as if this was perfectly normal! Finally we convinced him to leave the appetizers and recook our entrees. About 5 minutes after finishing our appetizers he came out and asked if was now okay to begin to cook the entrees. I am not kidding. My wife's dinner was okay and mine was horrible. I didn't eat more than a couple of bites and simply asked for the tab. A woman who I presumed to be the owner came over and asked how our dinner was. I told her it was bad and she simply smiled and walked away. Usually a very good experience and has been for the numerous times I have been here. Today was not so good and actually a bit upsetting. I typically order the same entree, orange chicken, but today decided to try something different and based on recommendations from the waitress. I normally order any chicken from the menu very well done, but even after telling the waitress a few times to ensure that the chicken was well done, (she also said it was lightly breaded and could be crisped up, it was not) it came out twice very mushy. The first one came out very fast, the second plate took an extremely long time and was about the same as the first. I know the owners very well and it was a bit upsetting that I still had to pay full price for a meal that was untouched and was not able to eat. There was no offer to make something different and I even mentioned I had to go find lunch somewhere now. I left with $14+ less in my pocket and still had to find another place to eat fast as I was by now late for an appointment. More than anything I was disappointed by the experience....
