Ok so I don't like leaving reviews on local restaurants like this but feel the need. This was our second tine going and waited for a dear friend to be in town to go back because it was so delicious and the service was outstanding. Well last night was the night to go, chill and watch the game and have this delicious pizza and drinks as described. Not so much at all! Started with ordering 3 beers for the waitress to come back and say I'm sorry we only have one mich ultra left. Ok no problem, all good, move on to something else to drink, no biggie. We then order 2 appetizers, great because it takes time for the pie pizza to cook so apps will be great. We order and she comes back, I'm sorry we are out of cheese sticks but the Ravioli is great. Ok so thats fine, ordered and I will say they are delicious. Ok so she brings out our apps and I look around for her to ask for some silverware, I flag her down and she brings us silverware and I ask, can we get some plates please, brings them. Ok all good and we aren't super picky at all. Thin pizza comes out and our friend loved it, perfect! Our pies come out and let's just say I don't know what happened but watery and middle was barely warm. Definitely not as good as before. She checked on us and she did offer to go warm it up but honestly at this point after 45 min of waiting I just wanted to eat. Anyway we ate, didn't even watch the game and left and good thing because looks like we may have been holding them up because the door locked right behind us. It was 7:25. Not a very...
Read moreI have been wanting to try Scallywags Pizza for a long time but we stay so busy it’s hard to get there.. even if it’s just 30 minutes away. After winning dinner on a Facebook giveaway, I made it a point to gather some friends and try it out. It exceeded my expectations! I ordered a NY style 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni for the kids and snagged a slice for myself. It was a large pizza and full of flavor, unlike any other pizza I have had around here. My friends ordered a Chicago deep dish and knowing it takes longer, we ordered some apps as well while we waited. I love fried ravioli and theirs didn’t disappoint! The sauce had a bit of a kick (red pepper I guess?) which really enhanced the flavor of the dish. Our friends had the pizza eggrolls, my husband loved those! Despite having 3 restless children with us, the wait wasn’t a big deal as there’s a game room with some old school arcade games. The deep dish pizza was HUGE, feeding 4 adults! Just the right amount of cheese, perfect amount of sauce, and a buttery crust that was full of flavor! They have a full bar with a variety of beers and some fun delicious sounding cocktails. Our service was wonderful as well. Our server was friendly and personable; often discussing our wild 2 year old daughters. She made some great recommendations and was quick with anything we needed… even if we didn’t know we needed it. I may have come for the free pizza but will definitely be back for more delicious dinner and...
Read moreI was hungry for a breakfast buffet and hurried over to Southern Coffee/Scallywags. When I arrived, there was nothing!! Buffett is only on Saturday and Sunday!
So I had a Breakfast Burrito. The egg and sausage was great. Scrambled egg soft, fluffy, tasty. How do they do that? Why are my scrambled eggs at home, flat, hard, and tasteless? I decided to try or have that Bushwacker Coffee. I specifically said not to serve it in a water glass!! She agreed! What did she do? Bring it in a waterglass!! My heart dropped seeing that ugly waterglass and my Bushwacker Coffee de-glamorized that was. I asked if it could be served in a wine glass. Yes. Ok! It tasted watery. I thought, This needs some whipped cream on top! Do you have whipped cream? Yes! Well, that made it look better and it even tasted better. Love that cold coffee!! It could have used some ice cream and El Contraire liquor. No alcohol in that coffee!
As to parking, do not try to park on hwy 59. Rather go down the alley to the back of the store and on the West side is a large parking lot with free parking. You have to walk through a game/pool table room to Scallywags and Southern Coffee. There are two stores in that ole Onlooker building. Scalkywags and Southern Coffee.
Suggest that breakfast buffet be every morning and not just weekends.
There seems to be no way here to attach photos! Why? Where is the "add...
