This place is absolutely and charmingly wonderful. If you love your tea, like we do, then this is, hands down, the best place around. There's also salad, humus and daily special food and it is really special.
First of all this place is right on the back side of the square, or commons as they're called back in the great white north, with ample parking directly across the street.
It's a tea shop with a hand full of tables nestled along the wall from front to back and several tables out back under the trees and a couple under little tents on the side. They have put huge fans outside to keep you cool on the really hot days and I think that is cool. We started outside because all the tables were full inside but there was rumbling in the skies and we were told that they'd move us as soon as a table cleared.
The folks inside are very welcoming and friendly with a real desire to make you comfortable. You're told about some of the special teas with tempting details and are brought samples in cute little mismatched cups to further excite your tastes. We both were drawn to the "Lady Lavender" which is served hot or cold. We chose cold which was served in very cold mason jars rimmed with cracked sugar with plump blueberries inside. It was a really delicious and satisfying blend. We were left with a two-sided menu filled with lots & lots of choices for more tea.
Next our server told us about the main attraction, the cucumber sandwiches, as well as several other options for lunch. We settled on tomato basil soup, a salad, Greek humus and a pimento cheese basket to share. While we're enjoying our fabulous tea the rain begins and the thunder booms & we head inside where a table is waiting for us. Good thing because it turned into a heavy thunderstorm.
First of all, the tomato basil soup was absolutely amazing. Before today my favorite was at La Madeline's in New Orleans but this is the very best I've ever had, including my own. It was the perfect consistency, spice and flavor with a delicious dallup of mmmmm cheese. Holy cow that soup is fantastic and I am looking forward to my next visit for a big bowl of that stuff! The salad with Greek dressing is very good and the pimento cheese basket I received was great. It has slices if french bread, butter crackers, thick slices of cucumbers, mink pretzel twists and pickled okra, very nice. The Greek humus comes with crackers, tortilla chips, celery sticks and cucumber slices all fresh and tasty. The food was plentiful, fresh & delicious and was very satisfying indeed. They have specific offerings each day and we were way too full to try any if their famous homemade scones and other dessert offerings but soon, yes soon. I can't wait to see what they cook up on my next visit.
My sweetheart took my daughter and son-in-law here not long ago for a high tea service (reservations neeed) and they were super impressed and now that I've gone for just a regular lunch drop in I can see why, it's really a special place. On their visit my daughter was taken by a beautiful painting of a mermaid by a local artist, that painting now hangs in my daughters house in Pittsburgh :-) At checkout we bought some butterfly nectar and fairy nectar for our daughter (her two favorites) for our upcoming visit with her.
I am posting lots of pictures of this rustic and did I say super charming establishment because there's lots & lots of teas and other things to see.
Bottom line: It's one of a kind, it's delightful and I highly...
Read moreMy Daughter and I had lunch at this quant, shotgun style converted 1930's house at 106 North Chicago st, In Foley, Alabama. Ms Robin, one of the 2 sister's, met us after finishing our meal to ask about the food, and service. Customer service is off the wall; exceptional great! I must say, if you haven't been to the Copper Kettle; YOU MUST GO TO THIS AMAZING PLACE! Deanna, our server was simply outstanding with her description of a huge selection of tea's, and available choices for lunch. We chose the lunch special of a cup of tortilla soup, loaded with veggies, and other spices, that provided a pleasing taste, and flavor! A side dish of black bean hummus, with tortilla chips made a perfect match, with the soup! As for our choice of tea, we had a cranberry/ apple sweet tea, and a Japanese lemon which made our palate clear and tasteful. The inside of the Tea House Bar is well decorated with, what else but copper kettles, copper lanterns, and various pictures of yesteryears people, places, an the houses memories. Outside the tea house was a kids massive yard filled with various toys, games, and rides to keep them occupied while the parents could enjoy their choice of tea's, and other beverage's. Read moreThe best place in Foley to relax with good friends and family. Quaint, cozy, great food, excellent tea, unmatched atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Completely unique. My favorite place in the world. I've known Robin and Sue since they opened this place, and I wish that I lived closer and could come more often. You can come anytime to just relax and hang out, but also keep up to date with their many activities via Facebook. If you have a chance to buy tickets for one of their themed tea activities - do it! The Hobbit Tea is my favorite (Sept. 19th, 2020 this year), but they also have Under the Sea, Harry Potter, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Mad Hatter's Tea, a Christmas Carol, etc. You can schedule a themed High Tea (fairy tea, Lord of the rings tea, mermaid tea Beauty and the Beast tea, etc. just ask!) for family or friends and be served in style. There are also lots of activities to make arts and crafts. Pick up something made by local artisans or a specialty tea to brew at home.. You won't regret visiting here! Also, they're opening a second location in Foley...
