Zest Mediterranean Cuisine — Restaurant in Folsom

Hmm ...the lamb kabobs at Zest Mediterranean eatery in Folsom, CA, looked and tasted different from my prior visits. A few weeks ago, I ordered the lamb kabob plate $23.99 to go which is my usual order. But the lamb pieces were tough. Chewy. Each piece was like that. Ohhh what happened?!? My previous orders had tender and moist, flavorful cuts. So it seems they need to work on consistency. Not sure if the cuts were properly butchered against the grain to get the most tender cuts.

The plate came with side plate of Mediterranean salad, hummus, bread and rice pilaf. All of that was delicious and visually beautiful. The salad was a a good serving size with fresh ingredients and topped with a touch of sumac. Yes. The dressing was darn delicious. The hummus was fantastic. The pilaf was light and fluffy, flavorful. The tzatziki was refreshing and served chilled. The pita bread was super thin and flat. Different take from most other eateries.

The interior is clean but not giving off modern vibes. Basic interior. The service is counter service with the food brought out to you. It was warm inside as I sat and waited for my order. The AC was limping along on this...

I had an absolutely amazing dining experience at Zest Mediterranean Restaurant! The shawarma chicken and shawarma meat were incredibly delicious and packed with flavor. The crispy onion rings were the perfect accompaniment. And let me tell you about the baklava—it was simply divine! I couldn't resist taking home two dozens of them.

Not only was the food top-notch, but the cleanliness of the restaurant really stood out. It's evident that the owners take great pride in maintaining a clean and inviting atmosphere for their customers.

Speaking of the owners, they were incredibly lovely, welcoming, and generous. Their warm hospitality made me feel right at home. It's clear that they genuinely care about their customers' satisfaction and go above and beyond to ensure a fantastic dining experience.

To top it all off, Zest Mediterranean Restaurant is surprisingly affordable, offering incredible value for the high-quality food and service they provide.

First time at this fairly new establishment and I am so excited to have found a great go-to restaurant for satisfying my shawarma cravings. Ordered baba ghannouj for an appetizer and the chicken pomegranate plate. The baba ghannouj was so good. Had to make myself stop eating it when my plate arrived. The chicken pomegranate plate was more than I hoped for. Chicken was full of flavor and packed a sweet-tangy punch from the pomegranate molasses. Cooked very well. The side salad was not your average side salad. Lovely fresh greens, tomato, crisp cuc, and perfect dressing. Tasty hummus with TEXTURE (not a fan of the overly creamy). Rice pilaf was so good and not just a filler…Small rice grains, perhaps cooked in a spiced broth. Nice and garlicky garlic sauce. And classic pita good for dipping in everything. We even received baklava on the house! Light and flaky layers with nuts and honey. YUM. Portions were large. I can put a lot of food down, but still came home with leftovers.
