Game Haven — Local services in Forest City

I’m giving them a 3 star rating because they have a really nice selection but that’s about it. I’m just high key disappointed in the place and I try so hard to support small businesses. Especially small geekery businesses because we need more of them! I went in super excited because they had been highly recommended to me by a number of people. I was told I’d definitely get more money for my games than from GameStop. I took my stuff by GS first and they offered me $115 for most of my pile of games. Went by Game Haven and excitedly looked around, picking out a few things to buy that day while they calculated my $. I spied a number of things I, at the time, was determined to come back and buy especially with gaming kids and Christmas coming up. I will say the guy didn’t make me feel very welcome, I honestly felt so out of place and like they didn’t want me there. They offered me $80 for 27 games. I was absolutely floored. I was ready to cry, but I didn’t want to go back by GS, needed the money that day, and once again wanted to support a small business full of fellow geeks. So I accepted the trade in. Got my receipt and I was just in shock. Most of the games I was given .75-$1. And these were all generally newer Xbox One/ PS4/5 games. A few DS games too. I really wanted to love this small business and make it my new destination for all things gaming, but I just can’t. Idk if it’s because I’m a woman, how I was dressed, or what. Idk maybe they thought a girl in a cute dress was easy to take advantage of, like I didn’t know what they were worth. I was a competitive gamer for over 6 years and I’ve had a controller in my hand since before I could walk. But they sorely took advantage of me and didn’t try to make me feel welcome at all. I think I’ll stick to online shopping this holiday season and that’s depressing because in this day and age we need to support local businesses more than ever. But I just can’t spend money at one that looks at me like I don’t belong and takes me to the cleaners. As a gaming mom with multiple gaming children, this business does not get my seal...

Makes every other game store look like a joke. The absolute best place to find old video games and modern alike, and that's saying something coming from a videogame hunter. Plus their prices are extremely cheap if it's a used game! Depending on the game of course, because certain games are just high in general, but even the price for those higher ones are cheaper than other places price. Go ahead and check Amazon or somewhere else; I can almost guarantee you that Gamehaven's cheaper. They also have great prices on movies, and most of the workers are really helpful, and know what they're talking about. You don't know how many times I have walked into a GameStop and they don't even know what I'm talking about! Jeez guys I'm a girl, you should have more knowledge of this than me. My review from my trip today - I went in and as always I came out with what I wanted for a decent price. One of same guys were in there which I love because he is always super great with helping me with whatever I need! Will be glad for the Coronavirus to be gone so they can get the arcade machines back in. My kids always loved their games in-store. Which helps while trying to shop for them at the same time!
