My wife ordered the Korean chicken, and I ordered the kalbi ribs, instead we both received the kalbi/Korean combo (which is no big deal, mistakes happen). However the kalbi ribs were very tough like beef jerky, and I’ve had kalbi ribs before from other Hawaiian restaurants it was never like that, it’s always been very tender and easy to chew. My wife’s Korean chicken was also very hard to chew, was not due to the crispiness, the meat itself was very tough. This was a takeout order yesterday before close, so I called today to try to resolve the issue, however the manager tried to say that kalbi ribs are “supposed to be tough” and that the Korean chicken is “supposed to be hard to chew, because it’s crispy” instead of just fixing the situation she lied and said she did not see our order in her order history from yesterday and said she would call back. Never called back, so I have now called twice. The first time I was put on hold for 10 minutes then was hung up on, and then the second time I called it was 15 minutes on hold to only be hung up on. It’s sad that such a seemingly well loved restaurant doesn’t have the decency to have any customer satisfaction. I guess it’s our fault from ordering those things and giving them our business... won’t...

I was extremely disappointed in both the food and service. I believe this may be a case of poor management and not that of the owner being I think I had the owner the first time and everything was good. The chicken katsu was very good the first time so I went back with my wife. The Kailua pork was very disappointing but I will reserve some judgment in this being I’m not sure if it’s suppose to be so salty. The teriyaki chicken was really good except that it tasted more like yakitori. Coconut shrimp was also good. The rest of the food was not good at all. Very disappointed. We politely attempted to tell the server and instead of being polite she told us it was our fault because that’s what we ordered. Instead of refunding or providing another dish she gave us attitude and complained to other customers and the cook in front of us. I don’t think I’ve ever been in this situation. As a business they lost the opportunity to have good customers. The loss of a few tax deductible dollars is nothing compared to the revenue of repeated local customers who refers restaurants. I was sad to have experienced this because I really do want small...

First time eating here, and my first impression could have been better. I was impressed that we were seated quickly and the staff were initially friendly. Unfortunately that is the one of the only things that stood out. As a party of 9, we had no napkins, half our food came out 20 minutes after ordering and the next half at least 5 minutes after. And we still had a couple of our orders missing and had to ask. When we got our food, it was either cold or lukewarm, and we had to ask multiple times for the essentials, such as more napkins and condiments that should have been either been bought out or already included on the table. Kind of shows that the restaurant was cheap.

I was really looking forward to this restaurant as I love Hawaiian food and heard the food was good. Overall the food was decent and the serving size was exceptional but it was hampered by the service and not at serving temperature. The prices for their dishes are a bit on the higher end; not sure if their food, and especially their service, warrants their current price structure. I believe this place has potential and I hope they live up to it. It will be awhile before I...

Since moving from O'ahu 4 years ago, Kama'aina I think is an underrated Hawaiian Food restaurant, because this is the closest and best Hawaiian Comfort Food we can get here in the PNW. Everything is authentic, from the Kalua Pig to the Squid Luau, they even gave us a small cup poi which was great! We always get "The Big One" Plate because there is a little bit of everything and it is generous portions or everything. The service is always great there, they now use tablets to place orders and they also use the same tablets to allow payments tableside. We always get seated very quickly as well as getting our order out to us quickly as well, so that is always a plus. I would also recommend this place 10/10 friends and family, so if you are looking for actual Hawaiin food, check these guys out, highly recommend!

The food is always good, but our waitress didn’t want to refill drinks for a long time, and was generally unfriendly. My wife and I have noticed a common “attitude” among customer service providers in the area, or a lack of really, and this restaurant is no exception. We were the only customers after an elderly couple left, so it wouldn’t have been difficult to fill a coke but I get it. The coke is heavily watered down too which is a shame, restaurants have to cut costs but watered down coke is a negligible gain relatively. But everyone wants the $ for sure. I expect a certain level of EFFORT to go along with price hikes.

I got the AINA PACK and it was really good, a lot of different flavors and proteins and not to mention the two sides. The only thing was when I got to my salmon katsu I stopped(towards end of my meal) as only parts of it were cooked and the thicker pieces were crispy on the outside but mushy on the inside , as the salmon was not evenly cooked , but just warmed. I’d definitely give it another shot, but will try it as dine in so I can ensure my entire meal can be eaten in one sitting as intended… I’ll only eat raw fish or fully cooked no in between (warm). That’s why I’m doing 3 stars for now.
