We were excited to check out Kaji Grill in Forest Park Square ā an all-you-can-eat hibachi, sushi, and appetizer spot for $27.99 sounded like a great deal. But the experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in.
We were seated right next to a screaming baby despite the restaurant having open space elsewhere. The server was extremely rude ā quick, cold, and clearly didnāt care to offer any real service. It felt more like we were a burden than guests.
We ordered a wide range of items and honestly didnāt enjoy any of it. The sushi rolls were massive ā but packed with rice and barely any actual fish or meat. The wasabi had an odd color and tasted old. The hibachi steak was tough, the chicken wings were bland and unseasoned, and the rice and noodles were dry and flavorless, with cold sauce tossed on the side ā not mixed or cooked in.
They also donāt have a bar, which felt like a miss for the type of dining experience theyāre trying to offer.
The bathroom situation just added to the frustration ā dirty, smelly, and the menās room didnāt have any paper towels to dry your hands after washing. Basic cleanliness and hygiene seemed overlooked.
They did offer dessert options like cheesecake, mochi ice cream, and Japanese ice cream ā but by that point, we couldnāt get out of there fast enough.
Overall, this place felt like a rushed cash grab with poor service, low-quality food, and a lackluster atmosphere. Definitely wonāt be returning, and canāt recommend it to anyone looking for a solid hibachi or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were excited to try the new restaurant since the closing of the all you can eat seafood place. As soon as we came in the vibe was off and not as we once remembered. The guy didn't even notice that we walked in.
We were sat at a table as we tried to figure out how to go about doing the all you can eat hibachi and sushi. The server didnt explain anything just walked away. We then went up to the hibachi window and we received directions.
When the server came back to our table to take our order we asked did they have any seafood boils at all and the server was very rude telling us to go down the street to crafty crabs. I explained we only asked because we haven't been here since new management/ company. He then explained it was a new owner and new company.
After all those red flags we should have left but tried giving it a try. I had a lemonade and it had black particles inside the ice. I brought this to the servers attention and he said yeah its from the ice machine. I then replied well thats nasty and he didnt have a care in the world.
It was definitely a waste of money and I will not return. I will make sure to spread the word of my experience.
I wish I could give no stars but I will say that one star could go towards the volcano roll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBusiness is clearly not doing well here. Was warned I will be charged extra because didn't eat all the rice on the nigiri, but wouldn't just... Not let us have rice. "We don't do sashimi". Short sighted business thinking. Now probably not coming back. We've been 4 or 5 times, and this will be the last time we go.
I get people just getting a ton of stuff and not touching it... But this is about a half bowl of rice and making your customer feel unwelcome.
Do what other businesses do when confronted with obvious food waste issues with all you can eat... Just add a few dollars to the cost. Price that into everyone's bill instead of pretending that food waste doesn't happen at all restaurants. Sometimes people aren't finishing food; its literally how dinner works.
Don't go here if you think you might not eat everything you order completely everytime. Just such a short sighted business here, we'll just go to Sakura...
