If you're looking for a ciderey in NoCo, then this place is a must go.
Their in-house ciderey is absolutely fantastic. With a wonderful selection of ciders that are year-round, they always have something you'll enjoy. And if you want to try something new, look no further. Their rotations are always on point. *Although my sadness at seeing the Elder Lemon cider go is monumental. *
Regarding their food, the burgers and sandwiches are excellent, but not for the small of stomach, as they don't really have a "small" serving size. Their appetizers are fantastic, and if you love cheese like me, then you must partake of the brie. Only criticism of the brie is that they need more bread and more jelly/jam selections.
Table service is something to talk about, as my preference is for staff to come to your table when there is also a bar sitting option, but with the setup they have, I do understand why they don't, as the bar is easily accessible. Also a plus, in the multiple outings I've had there, I've never had to wait more than a minute or two for service, so props to them for that.
All in all, Scrumpy's is a FoCo focus for cider, easily being my favorite place in Old Town to sit back and throw some cider down the hatch while enjoying the wonderful atmosphere, without the crazy hustle and bustle of your typical FoCo experience.
Try the Rasbenero cider if you like some spice in your life. It's...
Read moreOnce a great cider bar, but all the friendly staff has left. Although there are a couple new friendly workers, they are now run by a general manager who apparently dislikes people. Even the employees dislike her. I had the displeasure of talking to her and she was sure to make me feel guilty for even making a request of her, and then followed it up by saying she sets the rules and she “cant” change them. Lazy, disrespectful, and a bummer, because they’ve got some decent cider.
Go elsewhere for now.
Edit: now the owner comes at me saying I made a threat? Your GM lied to you. I asked if The owner was there to see if she could make an exception as the bar was almost completely empty, and I was there with an ex employee. After the GM came back giving the excuse of if I got a flight, everyone would want a flight (all 3 groups?) and they would have too many dishes. So I responded by offering a $20 additional tip to the crew for dealing with my dishes. The GM got angry that I would even offer such a thing.
Can’t say I’m shocked that your GM would lie, she seems terrible at her job. No wonder it’s always so...
Read moreSolid pub fare, but the standout was the service and the ciders. Liam, the GM, was fantastic. He was on his own at the bar, but didn't fail to greet us with a smile when we came in, and was quick to help us whenever we approached the bar.
Scrumpy's is the home of Summit Ciders, and theirs are fantastic. There really is something for every palate. Liam convinced us (it didn't take much) to try a flight of all 16 ciders for $28, which is a great value as a separate flight of 8 is $17. Each taster is good for several sips, and since we were heading back home to SD, we didn't need any other drink with our meal.
We took several ciders home with us, and if they didn't have any 4-packs left they were able to provide a choice of growlers or growlettes.
Liam was again amazing, juggling our cider order while helping other customers, and still helped us bring some of our ciders to our car. He even threw in a couple of cute stickers with their hedgehog logo, and some BOGO cocktail cards. We'll definitely have to try their cider based cocktails when we...
