Just wanted to share my experience tonight- in my opinion, it was incredibly frustrating. Iâve been coming here for years, and donât think Iâll be coming back. I, along with the rest of my family, ordered dinner (we sat near the bar where it is full service, and you can order food). About 15 minutes later, their food came out, but mine did not. While I understand that the bartender was busy, no one came to check on our table and ensure our order was correct and that we were enjoying our meal. 30 minutes passed, and I still had not received my food. My mom went to the bar and asked the bartender about it- he apologized and said he would take care of it. 30 more minutes pass by, and my aunt also talked to the bartender about my food, as it had been a long time that I still had not received my food. He was quite defensive- while we all understand he may have been busy, I still had not received my food. I finally get my food- and it is completely incorrect. Not what I ordered. My mom then had to go back and let them know that my order was incorrect. The bartender came over and asked what I ordered so he could have it made, but I let him know I no longer wanted the food, as I was not interested in sitting for thirty more minutes and to receive food I shouldâve gotten more than an hour ago. He quickly apologized and mentioned that he comped the tacos- which I would hope, as I never actually received them. He then brought us our bill and two âfreeâ 1/2 queso cards- in which we have to buy food and/or drink to receive the queso. He said âsorry for the service tonightâ, dropped the bill and the coupons, and walked off. We felt that being asked to buy food in order to get the free 1/2 queso after this awful service was not acceptable, so my aunt talked to him again. He went and got the kitchen manager- she came to our table and we explained what happened. However, she explained that she is the kitchen manager (not a general/front of house manager or assistant manager), and she was unable to help or answer our questions (which isnât her job, as she is the kitchen manager). The bartender then leaned over the bar and started shouting at us (in front of customers) and tried to explain that he also comped a queso on our tab- when we looked at the tab, he did not. We finally paid, and left.
While I appreciate that we got those coupons, it felt like a slap in the face that we are expected to spend money in order to get the âfreeâ 1/2 queso (not even a full order of queso) after the service experience we had. We all felt that the bartender was defensive and did not care about our experience or want to make things right as the night went on- however, we have all worked in customer service and know how difficult it can be, but we would not have treated customers this way. We would have also appreciated talking with a manager/FOH manager instead, as the kitchen manager was unable to help us or answer our questions (again, she should not be expected to, as she is the kitchen manager).
Would love for this to be taken care of and resolved, but will not be returning here for...
Read moreTorchy's Tacos is street tacomania with six vegetarian (out of 26 regular menu) taco options. They are tasty which makes it a place omnivores and vegetarians can both enjoy. Vegans might be able to try some of the items and subtracting specific ingredients but there are no specific vegan items on the menu. The paper menu has a "V" making vegetarian tacos easy to identify but no such markings for other menu items, so when in doubt or curious just ask.
We had several different tacos and shared a side dish:
"Dirty Sanchez" is a "breakfast taco" available all day, eggs with fried poblano chile, guacamole, escabeche, chest and poblano sauce on a flour tortilla.
"Independent" fried portobello mushrooms, refried black beans, roasted corn, escabeche carrots, cojita cheese, cilantro & fresh avacado with ancho aioli on a flour tortilla. I substituted corn tortilla for this one and you really have a choice of corn or flour tortillas for any taco you order.
"Fried Avocado" fried avocado slices, (pinto) beans, pico de gallo, with poblano sauce on a corn tortilla.
They have 6 different sauces so if you want something other than what the taco you select is normally served with just ask. The sauces are served in little cups on the side.
"Street Corn" a 12 Oz bowl with corn topped with ancho aioli, cotija cheese, cilantro, dusted with red chili powder, and a wedge of lime.
I'm not a big soda drinker anymore but this was too fun to pass up. The "Maine Root Fountain Soda" all are this unusual brand which also included a "cactus lemonade" which was very tasty. Their "to go" cups are plastic, reusable and meant to be taken home.
The restaurant is combined with a bar and like many similar places has music way too loud in an acoustically live room. The outdoor seating was an area where we could sit, eat, and actually talk without being accosted by the intrusively loud "background music."
The tacos are tasty, but as the ingredients make clear, everything here is pretty oily and no doubt high calorie. Typically two tacos will make a meal but they are so generously portioned some will be satisfied with one.
Tacos prices range between $2.50 - $4.75 each.
This place is a nice addition to the recently remade Foothills Mall in Fort Collins. From my perspective it gets 4 out of 5 stars. ...
Read moreI was looking for someplace "different" to eat in th' Fort, and happened upon Torchy's. I had been in their neck of the woods, having just stopped in at a local jewelry place to pick up something for my wife. (Don't I sound like a NICE guy!??! Anyway, I stopped in Torchy's. I don'r really know why, exactly, I hadn't stopped in before . . . . I've seen them for years . . . just not convenient, I guess. In a town with over 400 places to eat, I suppose it's hard to find a little, kind of out-of-the-way spot. Much of their food has funny names. Funny as in quirky and/or unusual. That day I had the "Trailler Park", for $3.75. That's not a misspelling. At least, it's not MINE. (Their entire menu is "kind of" misspelled) Trailler Park - Fried chicken, green chiles, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheese on a flour tortilla with poblano sauce. Get it trashy take off the lettuce and add queso (for a little extra). They also had a "Democrat", and a "Migan", and an "Orange", and "Brushfire", which was Jamaican jerk chicken, grilled, jalapenos, mango, sour cream & cilantro. Served with diablo hot sauce on a flour tortilla, for $3.75. These items I've listed are all Breakfast Tacos. Most are served on corn tortillas, but a few come on flour. I feel as if I went in not wanting to like it, with the semi-noisy atmosphere and corn tortillas, for the most part (I'm partial to flour). That, plus the tortillas are hardly the the size of a small coffee cup saucer. After chowing down on the Trailler Park though, piled high with ingredients, and spicy to boot, I kind of re-examined everything. In and out quick. Fresh ingredients. INEXPENSIVE. Did I mention QUICK?? Well, all in all, I'd go back. Not my first choice, probably 'cause I'm old, and would as soon take my time, relax, and savor my food. I should mention that they also have one larger item: Burrito - $7.50 Your choie of beef, chicken, pork or vegggie served with rice, your chice of beans shredded cheese, pico de gallo, soup cream & guacamole, wrapped in a 12" flolur tortilla. (Do you SEE the misspellings? I quit correcting the menu) If this sounds like your kind of place, you should try it. It's across from the Foothills Mall, kind of high up, with College Avenue on the back side. I'm pretty sure you...
