Hippy-Dippy in Fort Gratiot has a fun, laid-back vibe with creative ice cream flavors, including vegan options. The decor and atmosphere are great, but the service has issues. The employees either seem understaffed or not very attentive, leading to long waits, and my shake was only three-fourths full. On top of that, my ice cream didn’t come with any lids, which was inconvenient.
Near closing time, I saw what looked like the owner walking around in the back with their child, who wasn’t wearing a hairnet. It seemed unprofessional, especially since a child really shouldn’t be hanging out in the back of a restaurant.

Update: They know nothing about cross contamination, but yes the ice cream is marked. I was surprised to hear that the pints of ice cream cannot be trusted as they are scooped from the tail-end and bottom of the container prior to restocking. Crumbs, cones, cross contamination. We explained this.

Mentioned this as he was looking at flavors and the young girl behind the counter rolled her eyes and mouthed "I dont care..." to herself. He was only person in line and one other couple there eating ice cream, so she was not remotely busy. He wouldn't have even completed the order, but it was for me, so that was all he got.
