Daybreak Cafe — Restaurant in Port Huron

Not gonna lie, one of the more uncomfortable times I've been at a restaurant. I was meant to meet some people there towards the end of their workday and grab some food, I got there a bit earlier than them, 30-45 mins before they close, so I decided to grab a table. Mind you, this is more or less my first time even visiting this location, I come to find out pretty quickly that they close relatively soon, but I mean I’m still in there early enough to have them still serving people food and considering I would imagine just about everyone there is paid hourly, I would imagine for the six person table we were getting, that the tip itself would’ve been worth the small amount of time any of them might have had to stay over to accommodate us, if at all. I only ordered one thing, which was a drink, and I’m not sure if it was because the drink dispenser was low on syrup, or maybe the cup wasn’t cleaned very well, but it definitely did not taste like lemonade. For the five minutes that I was in the restaurant, I had three separate people, all of which weren’t my server all come over and remind me that they closed soon, and I suppose the nicest one about it was my server who pointed to the next table over and said that these people stayed after at least 30 minutes every day, so if my people got there within the next 10 minutes, she wouldn’t have a problem with serving me. Now I totally get wanting to have your day end as close to the normal business hours as possible, I guess I just found it weird that my servers straight up admitted that it wasn’t uncommon at all for people to stay past the time that they close, yet virtually everyone that wasn’t in the kitchen came up to me at a different point to tell me in a pretty passive aggressive way they were closing and more or less we're annoyed we came in during hours in which they...

On a positive note The diner is clean and open with plenty of seating. The staff are friendly and timely. BUT - Food is forgotten/orders messed up Food is bland Food is undercooked Food is overcooked Food is cooked ahead and kept warm

As we went there to eat, food is important, that's what we're paying for, so, we won't be returning.

This is why - I ordered American fries, 2 eggs sunny side up and bacon American Fries - I thought that was boiled potatoes, sliced and fried. Not here. Maybe 2 pieces of potato saw the frying pan, the others were placed underneath them to make it look like all were fried. How cheap. Eggs, sunny side up - They were sunny side up when they came from the frying pan, but, when they are left under the warming lights, rather than cooked fresh, they get a bit rubbery which is just how they were on my plate. SERIOUSLY. If you can't manage all your tables to accommodate short orders, close some down, or, get a chef who can. Cooking eggs ahead is nasty and cheap. Bacon - There are basically 2 ways to cook bacon. Crispy or cooked with a little wibble on the rind. Maybe ask the customer how they like theirs rather than serve up some slightly overcooked, warmed up rasher. To Go Box - was dirty

I can cook breakfast and I've never been trained to, so when I go out, I expect at least as good if not better. Not from here.

I usually try to make a review every time I visit an establishment, even if I am there more than once I leave review for each server and experience I am a little older have a hard time walking I was made to sit on the other side of the restaurant even though it wasn’t busy Last week sometime I had a waiter named Elle. She was horrific My entire order was wrong she didn’t offer to replace it or make adjustments to my liking I explained to her and she laughed and she sat by the window on her phone texting the entire time I was there and gossiping with her coworkers I sat close to where the servers were she talked about other tables including me it made me feel really uncomfortable she complained bout every table she had Y would someone be some where they don’t want to work? I’ve been coming for a little while now I don’t think employers should have someone like that at their establishment, she also didn’t give me my full change either and when I wanted to get the rest of my money I couldn’t find her anywhere for at least 15 mins so I let her keep the 10 dollars she short me with maybe she thought I said to keep the change but I was going to leave her nothing she made me not want to come back but the food is so good and the other staff make me want to come back the owners are wonderful but should reconsider who they hire she was the worst waitress I ever had don’t mean too complain and I don’t want to write a long message and throw a waitor under the bus but I hope she takes this as a lesson to be a better waiter like Erin she’s...
