Bohemian Latin Grill (BLG), I would seriously give this restaurant 10 stars if I could!
As it happened, we were newly arrived to Ft. Lauderdale and had been told we should go to a sports bar not far from our hotel. En route, we passed a funky little joint called 4:30 Boardroom Bar, and just a foot farther, a sandwich sign advertising Taco Tuesday $2.00 sitting in front of an unassuming little storefront called Bohemian Latin Grill. Now, not ones to pass up a Taco Tuesday opportunity, we grabbed a couple of beers from 4:30 BB, a couple of chairs outdoors, then popped into BLG to place an order.
I ordered two carne asada tacos with cilantro and onions, paid the $4.33, and was told they’d bring them outside to us. A couple of minutes and one bite later, I was completely speechless. It’s important to note that I’ve eaten a LOT of authentic tacos in my life growing up in southern California, Texas, and traveling through Mexico. This freakin’ taco was AMAZING. The meat was so tender and melted in my mouth so quickly I barely needed to chew. The flavor of the marinade was unlike anything I’m familiar with (of course, that’s the first time I’ve eaten steak since I was a small child), but I wanted more!!!!
Next we ordered two chorizo tacos with cilantro and onions. Spicy and still juicy, we were extremely impressed with these as well. The salsa accompaniment with both sets was available in mild and hot. We opted for the hot and found it to be very flavorful without removing your taste buds.
Three nights later we basically RAN back for a late night snack after having just gotten off the water taxi (review posted). This time we ordered the nachos (because a patron at 4:30 BB had recommended them on Tuesday), and two more carne asada tacos. The nachos are piled high with a deliciously creamy cheese sauce, black beans, pico de gallo, and generous pile of guacamole, I added the carne asada as well. Boy was I ever a happy, happy girl! I literally sat there licking my fingers – AGAIN!
There are so many items on the menu at Bohemian Latin Grill that I cannot wait to try the next time we’re in Florida. Until then, I can dream of the day I once again get to enjoy such amazingly fresh and...
Read moreThis just opened in my neighborhood. 1199 East Commercial by the tracks at Dixie Hwy. My neighbors have been raving about it on FB but quite frankly, they also might spend their nights watching The Kardashians, so I am pretty skeptical of others taste standards. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit I thought so poorly of them. I have never had such scrumptious Birria Tacos since I left Los Angeles. After I tried them I wanted to go through the whole menu and I might just do that. Now to be truly transparent, they left out the Birria on my to go order but I put that down to the bad take-out karma I’ve had the past two weeks. It seems every place I’ve grabbed food to go, I’ve been disappointed. Everything has been stone cold - and I’m only a few blocks from these other fast food and dine in restaurants so I just don’t know why the take out Gods are mad at me. But even without the tasty Birria Caldo, these tacos are heavenly. I’m not sure I even want them with the Birria Caldo anymore- but I’ll try it next time. I called and the owners jumped over hoops to try and make everything right but I was satisfied with my food so no harm, no foul. Please go. Your mouth deserve happiness. And that can be found at this place. Tasty, flavorful, deliciousness. Oh - a PS the menu prices are a little lower than the charge. My 14.99 plate was charged 15.99 but an extra dollar in these times for wonderful restaurants like this one is worth...
Read moreThe best tacos on the planet! They're taco shells are bought from a local Mexican store who makes them fresh, they have their homemade hot sauce, adorable cantina and outside seating Roxy is great, she helped me practicar mi Espanol. The only thing that kind of breaks my heart is that they use Styrofoam for their takeout, there are so many better options but other than that I love their food. They do bring your food over to you next door at the bar, Boardroom 4:30, which is old cars, reclaimed car parts, surf and skate boards as tables and a stoness throw from Ft. Lauderdale Beach!!! Boardroom is kind of a haven for adults kids who always dreamed of classic cars and extreme sports. The vibe is always fun, the crowds are perfect, just a group of social humans. Dave, Emma and George will make you never want to leave! A secret GEM 💎 in S. Florida. But, bring your A game because we're grown ups here, all are welcome, but make sure to leave your drama at home, this beach 'Cheers' is all...
