My family heard about this new dim sum restaurant just West of the Commercial Bridge, a few storefronts away from Fish Peddler East. We went for lunch on 12/23/24 and loved it! We have never found a great Dim Sum or Chinese food restaurant here in Fort Lauderdale although we did enjoy Christina Wan’s but it’s recently closed. We grew up eating excellent Chinese food, including Dim Sum, in San Francisco China Town. So our food standards are high! The Dim Sum Terminal hit the mark and we give the food an A and the customer service another top mark! The signage outside says Dim Sum Terminal and you’ll find the restaurant is spacious with dozens of tables inside. The menu was expansive and the food selection impressive! It became clear that this is the real deal when it comes to Chinese Dim Sum. The owners are originally from Macau and have taken enormous attention and care in creating a culinary experience like you would only normally get in China. We ordered a hot tea and then selected an assortment of Dim Sum and one main course. There were 3 of us and we shared the food and it was expertly prepared, flavorful, fresh, and hot from the kitchen. The entree was the Korean Beef Stir Fry with Scallions. We also had Pork Dumplings, Shrimp and Pork Siu Mai, Hargow Shrimp Dumplings, Seasonal Steamed Vegetables, and 2-3 other Dim Sum selections. This is an excellent Dim Sum restaurant and doesn’t require a long drive for anyone in LBTS or Fort Lauderdale. I encourage you to try it out. Oliver, whose family owns the restaurant, was courteous, helpful in suggesting dishes, and just a fantastic waiter and host! Give Dim Sum Terminal a visit and enjoy! I have my fingers crossed that they will thrive and establish the weekend Dim Sum tradition of having Dim Sum with your family and friends for breakfast! At present, they are open for lunch and dinner and not...
Read moreThere aren't many places that wow me enough to make me want to leave a review but DimSum Terminal is definitely one of those places. First, I couldn't tell you what I enjoyed more, the food or getting the opportunity to speak with Oliver who served us but is also one of the owners (along with his family). Let's start with the food though... we had scallion pancakes, chive dumplings (steamed), korean spicy dumplings (pan fried), and baked bbq buns all of which was the best I have ever had. I can't forget to mention they brought me a plate of spicy tofu to try and it was so insanely good!! Oliver mentioned that his sister made the macarons and normally I skip dessert at a restaurant but I am so glad that I ordered the Milk Tea and (as recommended by Oliver) the Melon macarons. I saw another review saying something along the line of "these macarons could easily be their own restaurant" and that is completely true. Just incredible!
I should also mention very reasonable prices especially compared to other inferior dimsum restaurants.
I was lost for words after my meal, I had just found the best dumplings I have ever eaten (big dumpling fan) I discovered a new food I really enjoyed (the tofu) and a new dessert spot (i cant stop thinking about the macarons!!!!)
Oliver checked on us several times and made sure we enjoyed everything we ate. He was just a great man who was is passionate about his business. He mentioned how they had just opened recently and is still getting the hang of marketing his brand.
I left unbelievable satisfied, from the food to the service to the little cat robot that sang a song I was so impressed. I will continue to be a regular customer here because this business deserves to stick around and I implore anyone in the area whether you eat this type of food normally or not to just give it a try and...
Read moreUnassuming from the exterior, this restaurant is a gem. Prepare yourself for a warm greeting and excellent service from the family members who own and operate the place. That's right: this is a wholly family run business and it shows. Each dish is prepared with love and shuttled to your table by a hilariously adorable cat-like robot. Don't worry; we're told that it's strictly for the entertainment factor and hasn't cost any server a job.
We tried the crispy mushroom appetizer which was surprisingly meaty and my partner called a great alternative to calamari. After that, we had wagyu and black truffle dumplings that arrived on the table lightly coated with edible gold dust. I really appreciated that the truffle was a subtle component, accenting the tender wagyu, and not overpowering it the way some other restaurants like to use truffle. This is definitely an experiential dish on the menu, and not something I can really compare to an item I've had anywhere else.
Our next course were braised pork belly buns and the duck buns. I will sing the praises of their braised pork belly which was not overly fatty and absolutely bursting with flavor. They were the definite winners of the evening for me. I cannot wait to try the bbq pork buns on our next visit.
We capped off the dinner with a pair of homemade macarons that one of the family's daughters bakes herself. My partner had the tiramisu macaron which was outstanding. My chocolate mint macaron was also good, but heavy on the spearmint, so I can see it being hit or miss for some folks. Melon was highly recommended by the son, so will be our next choice when we inevitably return.
Do yourself a favor and treat your taste buds to something delicious while also supporting a local family-owned and operated business! We hope to see Dim Sum Terminal in business for a long...
