May 2022, the food was delicious, service was great, but it all comes at a high price. We needed a change in the restaurants we were going to in the area and decided to try the Rainbow Palace with friends. Honestly, I loved the decor inside, and they had a nice cozy bar area, no outdoor seating, but there is plenty of Metered Parking. This is not your traditional Asian restaurant, not like NYC, where they give you a bowl of crispy crunchy noodles, and sweet and hot sauce for dipping as a starter when you arrive. James our server was wonderful, he took great care of our table. Now for the food review, I refused to get the Wonton Soup for 8 dollars (there is only 2 Wontons in the soup), my friend ordered it and the broth and Wontons (2) were delicious, but NO crunchy noodles to put in your Soup after the Wontons are gone, Why? We ordered a few Appetizers, Spring Rolls (2) at 6 dollars, delicious not greasy. Shrimp and Lobster Dumplings at 19 dollars (in my opinion that cost was a little too high, but we wanted to try it anyway), they were delicious. Then for our Main dishes we ordered the Vegetable Lo Main at 19 dollars, loved the noodles they were thin not thick with plenty of vegetables. Then my friend ordered the day’s Special, Sweet & Sour Chicken that was fresh and delicious, but can’t recall price. My other friend ordered the Roast Duck with Portabella Mushrooms and Asparagus at 32 dollars, this was also delicious - the duck for not overcooked and the vegetables were crispy. We did not order dessert because we were all full, but we did order teas. This restaurant is great for a special occasion or a first time try since in my opinion it is too costly to make this my go to restaurant. All and all, we would come back here to eat, or bring family or friends if they are coming down to Florida...
Read moreI felt like an Imperial at Rainbow Palace. From the moment I stepped inside and noticed the many AAA 5-star diamond awards on the wall, I knew I was in for a royal experience. Then upon being seated, I was asked if I wanted a black or white napkin. "I have a choice in the color of my napkin?" I thought? I went with the white one. My waiter, Russell, then greeted me with a menu and shared the specials of the day. Since I wanted something similar to General Tso, he recommended I get the Hunan Country Chicken. It was a great recommendation. The savory, breaded white cuts of chicken was delivered to my table on a cart accompanied by jasmine rice. It was flavorful and succulent. It reminded me of the General Tso chicken I would eat at a Chinese Restaurant in Beverly Hills called Chin Chin. I was a bit disappointed when I learned they had no type of Asian desserts. Instead of fortune cookies, green tea ice cream, moochi, etc. They offered cheesecake, coconut cream pie, key lime, etc. Therefore, I took off a star due to their lack of Asian desserts. This really diminished their Chinese authenticity for me.
There also was not any real diversity in the diners. I completely stood out being a woman of color. I was also hard pressed to find a patron under 40. And this restaurant isn't for small wallets. My green tea, entee, and dessert came up to over $50 including tip! However, this is a memorable restaurant with quality food and excellent customer service. I'd like to return for a date or...
Read moreWhat a complete and total rip off. The food certainly does not warrant the ridiculously high prices, and the portions are way too small. Did you ever hear of a Chinese restaurant charging $30 for a very small serving of mediocre food and it not coming with a bowl of wonton soup? No? Me either. The tiny bit of soup in a humungous bowl was $7.00 each. Four soups $28, Lol. And get this .... they don't even have crunchy noodles and duck sauce on the table. No, wait!! They don't have it at all!! $19 for a small dish of fried rice. Same price for lo main with no chicken or anything. Go to a real Chinese place and get 2 quarts for less than that!! We were 12 people and 3 of them were 10 and under and the bill was way too much. Everything we had was tasty, I'll give them that, but way not enough, way too overpriced for meh food, no white rice with the overpriced meh food, no noodles with duck sauce with the way too overpriced meh food, no soup with the (Ok I'll stop) dinner and EVERYONE left hungry. Ridiculous. I hate Panda Express but it is at least the same food, but more, for a fraction of the cost. Try Jade Garden in Plantation or Dragon City in Davie. You'll pay a great deal less for a great deal more. And there'll be ...
