When we were going to Florida for a trip, me and my family went to Fort Meyers. We got there and me bring me, was looking for good food places around my Airbnb. When we drove by this amazing food truck, I instantly saw “Home of the Original Cinnamon Roll,” I started jumping in my seat. But sadly, it was late in the evening and already closed. But the next morning I already new I was going to walk there because it was just a few minutes away. I went to bed that night so incredibly excited for the upcoming morning. I woke up and jumped straight out of my bed and ran out the door. I ran my lil booty over to Moms Restaurant. I walked up to the window and asked for a cinnamon roll not knowing the amazing soft, cinnamony, and buttery deliciousness I was about to digest. I was going to eat it at home because it was slightly raining, but the aroma this roll was giving off practically pulled me to a table and made me eat. I started civilized, you know, cut off a piece and eat. But the second I put that individual hits into my mouth, the fork fell right out of my hand. I picked up the cinnamon roll and started eating like a fricken wild boar. I mean, if you guys could try this cinnamon roll, I think you would do the same. I went back up to the window, and got a few more to bring back to my family, it told them they wouldn’t even need utensils, and when the smelt them, they started acting like wild beasts as well. They all scarfed down their rolls and we did this same exact thing for the next few days. The morning we left to fly back to Chicago, we stopped by this amazing establishment one final time. We asked how many cinnamon rolls were in a pan, and they said a dozen. We ordered 12 pans worth, no joke. We also stopped by a local Publix and bought a suitcase and loaded it with the pans of cinnamon rolls. While the extra cost for the suitcase was present at the airport, it was 2 million percent worth it to be able to keep eating them for a few weeks after we got home, if they even last that long. What I’m trying to say is that if you are in a 2 hour vicinity of Moms Restaurant in Fort Meyers, Florida, you have...
Read moreOof. Cannot recommend visiting, and didn't even feel like our patronage was appreciated. First, it was oppressively hot and not organized as far as queueing up and ordering. The staff was clearly overwhelmed, with an attitude that varied between coarse and distracted. At one point, I overheard one staff member trying to figure out to whom a cinnamon roll order belonged to. The dismissive and unbelievable reply from some manager or whatever he was: "whatever they'll come inside looking for it when they realize they're missing it". Bizarre disregard for the customer - this is not an attitude you can have, even when you're overwhelmed. Rather than seek out the person who has already paid you for your goods, you blow it off. If you do not know who the order belongs to, it is YOUR fault.
This type of attitude, taking your customer granted, it is really poisonous and troubling. That person should be fired if they are an employee, or exit the hospitality field if they are an owner. If that was an owner/partner and they are reading this, take my advice to heart. Your standards must be higher than to act as if your customer is not paying the bills.
As for the value, I was not impressed. I believe in paying more for good food, period. That said, at a remarkable $10 per breakfast sandwich, it should be something special and your order prepared right. These were not worth $10 and one of ours was also prepared wrong. Finally, there was an extra 20+ minute wait for these famous cinnamon rolls. When ours arrived, they were very light on the icing and our server said we should "do what we can with that". Rather than bring out the best, we waited all that time for what you cobbled together? We had already waited half an hour at that point, so why not take the extra few minutes to bring it out done properly? After all that, the rolls were slightly underdone and pasty.
So, 2 stars for vaguely acceptable quality on food, but no credit here on value, environment, or quality of service. We were really disappointed, given how many folks recommended the place. Again, I cannot recommend visiting based on...
Read moreAs someone who prides themself in finding hidden places as much as I enjoy retreading my steps on well established places too, I was so surprised to find Mom’s. It was just a quick Yelp search too! I think what it was, was that we don’t go to Ft Myers Beach in the AM if we go. By time we get there, Mom’s would be closed. So, to our amazement, we found Mom’s this morning and we undoubtedly intend on this being our new ‘watering hole’.
We tried their daily special as if it’s made daily, it has to be perfected and we honestly had no idea what we had gotten ourselves into. The biscuits are home made, HUGE and so soft and amazing! The sandwich it’s self was complimented with excellently cooked bacon, a great folded egg, a slice of processed American cheese and a tomato. It came with coffee and a cinnamon roll which has to be the size of my head. Dear Lawrd was it huge!
As I type this, i haven’t tried the roll yet but the sandwich itself was close to perfection. Maybe next time I’ll leave the tomato off but it didn’t make the meal any worse. It was just different. Overall, the price is right for such a delightful meal and well worth us coming back. If you have the time and money, by all means come here. Your missing out...
