The food was good, the service was really bad. We ordered two glasses of Cabernet, two glasses of water and two beers. The server brought beer and wine, no water. The wine was bad, we didn’t like it (they don’t have a brand on the menu) but our server was not coming, so we asked the bartender if he can give us a different brand of Cabernet. They didn’t have it so we asked for different red wine, we picked Pinot Noir and asked for a sample, just to make sure we will like it, so the bartender gave us a sample and we said yes. But apparently bartender in that restaurant is not eligible to serve drinks, so he had to go to “consult” it with our server (as the manager, who we didn’t ask for, later explained to us) They were “consulting” it about 15 minutes and then our server came with two glasses of white wine. We said we didn’t order it, that we don’t drink white wine and we want what we agreed on with the bartender. We had appetizers, my husband was ready for a second beer, but still didn't have wine nor water. Then the manager came. A young lady, she apologized, she said the wine is on her, she said there was a miscommunication between the bartender and a server, she tried to explain unexplainable, because we talked directly to the bartender, he knew what we wanted, he gave us a sample, he just didn’t give us what we wanted, because he had to consult it with our server and after that he got lost somehow.. so my husband said that she should check if the bartender is ok, because he might be high, or drunk, because the whole situation is very unusual and something is not right. Her answer was that she would appreciate if we don’t insult her staff. With that she just escalated the whole situation. We were ok with two young confused boys, we were not rude, or arrogant, we didn’t boss them around, we were still trying to be nice. So the whole feedback is for you – young lady manager. Our server was probably busy - we would be ok with that, the bartender- I don’t know what to say, very incompetent, to you I can only say- very bad job. And if you will continue to be a bad manager, then the service in the restaurant will never get better. It’s your job to make it work, not to attack dissatisfied customers back, because from dissatisfied you made us angry. And we stayed only because we had a 100 dollar gift card, which you were not able to process so we left with leaving you a gift card and a cash, because it was impossible even to check out, for another 20 minutes. -We didn’t have our drinks after almost 30 minutes in -We didn’t get one of our appetizers (we got it with our main course, when we asked about it) -The glasses were filthy -You were not able to serve 4 people’s main...
Read moreI have eaten at Lan Xang a number of times but what has inspired a review this time is I'm just incredibly impressed. I believe Lan Xang is owned by Lao owners but they do it all- Lao, Thai, Japanese, and Vietnamese. Typically this is a big red flag for me for any Asian restaurant because it's really difficult to be a master of all things and you lose quality on the individual dishes. I decided to gamble today and try their pad thai because I was really, REALLY craving some and so glad I tried it because it is amazing. Tangy sauce(not peanutbuttery) loaded with veggies and a generous heaping of tofu(most places aren't as generous) I can safely order it again and know I won't be disappointed. There are a ton of dishes on their menu I would like to still try but some of the ones I've tried that have been standouts include: Tofu Laab- it is herbaceous, texture experience and if you are wanting to try something new and Lao I think it's a great introductory dish. The cozy noodle soup instantly makes me feel better every time I order it. Thick, slurpy udon noodles in a warming broth is great if you want something filling but not heavy. Their lettuce wraps were delicious too! The tangy sauce and crunchy rice mixture with the protein is really delicious! I would say the veggie pho was just okay but I'm not convinced that some of their other Vietnamese dishes aren't spectacular. Their boba is always on point and I think usually freshly made( to the point they will make it fresh if they don't have it ready so be patient.) I am told(I don't eat meat typically) their sushi is great and they have a lot unusual roll combinations. Usually a safe bet time wise if you are order online I just did Uber eats and had it under an hour so it was still nice and hot. The restaurant has a nice ambience as well and really good vibe I think it's a great date spot. Ultimately you should try Lan Xang because it's not your run of the mill hibachi or just a bunch stir fried dishes asian restaurant. You can really try something new and they prepare the old favorites incredibly too! Their food is always fresh and prepared with quality and I will continue to patron them! Keep...
Read moreI just went here for lunch today 3/21/2023. I walked in and the hostess was chatting with friends and totally ignored us. Another server came out and seated us. the restaurant was dark and dingy. We were seated in a darker corner by the bathroom even though the restaurant was virtually empty. We were given the menu's and the greeter left. Our server then came up and I ordered an app and a coke. My co worker had gone to the restroom and when she returned we ordered out food. My co worker has a food allergy and asked the server what was in a roll she wanted. The server said shrimp and crab. My co worker then said she did not want row on the rolls so the server went to the kitchen to be sure there was no row on the rolls. We then ordered our food. When the rolls came out it had cream cheese in it that she can not eat. She told the server that she could not eat it as it had cheese in it. The server very rudely told her will you still have to pay for it! She said but I asked you what was in it before I ordered it and you said nothing about cheese. The server said but I did not really know. So she asked for the manager who came out and told us that the customer is not always right and she would have to pay for the roll even though she could not eat it. The manager was hostile and rude. My co worker told her she works part time as a server and understands the frustration but that she did ask about what was in the roll before ordering it. She was told that she server is not expected to know every item on the menu. So the service was horrendous. Our server was rude from the beginning to the end. Now about the food. I ordered a shrimp spring roll. It was not horrible but I would not order it again. The vegetable soup was terrible I did not eat it. The regular spring roll that came with my dish was good. The pad tai was terrible wait it was TERRIBLE! it was mushy noodles with no taste and rubber shrimp. I would have to say do not waste you time or money going to this restaurant. The atmosphere is dark and dingy. The service is incredibly rude. I have never been to a restaurant where the customer was treated to rudely. I would strongly advise to go...
