I sit here in this coffee house, thinking upon life and all of its mysteries, and I am sipping a vanilla frappe and dining on a peanut butter cookie. The vanilla frappe contains ice that has not been fully disintegrated. The pebbles of intact ice pepper the walls of the cup much as pellets from a shotgun would pepper the skin of a gangbanger. I will be generous, and give this frappe a rating of 4/10. Keep in mind, this place is wildy inconsistent: you may get a good barista who knows how to make a drink, or you might get some HS kid that started a week ago and is, for some unknown reason, willing to serve the denizens of this godforsaken town (probably for less than $10 an hour, as it should be). The peanut butter cookie is quite good, and quite a good value. The atmosphere is very inviting. The interior boasts exposed brick walls and exposed ductwork. Paired with the salvaged wood on sections of the walls, the interior conjures a rustic/industrial vibe. I rate the interior at 6.4574/10. Common Ground also contains a stage and screen, and sometimes hosts live music and movie screenings. This is nice, as Fort Scott is a veritable wasteland for culture, drawing only tractor-rap "musicians" once every few years to sub-par venues. If any proof is needed of Fort Scott's lack of culture, the local radio DJ's hard-on for Michael Buble provides a wealth of evidence. However, I digress. All in all, Common Ground is a lackluster gem (but a gem nonetheless) among the stark and barren cityscape of Fort Scott, America. I'd casually...
Read moreI ordered five drinks. I waited more than 45 minutes for four of them and told her to cancel the last one and left frustrated and without my money for the cancelled drink. The girl who showed up to pick up her check had no problem making herself two drinks quickly enough.
AND...they weren't busy. There were two customers who came in after me who got their drinks before me!...that was it! When I inquired why it took so long she told me my ticket got lost.. really? I watched the girl who wasn't working but made herself drinks tear it off and put it aside! Plus, it would not have been difficult to ask me what my order was.
If I wasn't purchasing drinks for other people, I would have demanded ALL my money back and never returned!
I mean, literally the worst customer service experience I...
Read moreAfter calling to confirm they would me open today (on Memorial Day) they stated they were until 5. I had my mother drive me here as I’d never been. We are from out of town and once we arrived they literally didn’t even let us through the door! Said the manager supposedly called to have them close early. If that was the case you shouldn’t be telling people you’re open till 5. Simple. RUDE to say the least as you could have atleast served the two people who came to your business before you closed. I mean if your manager called already why was the closed sign not posted once they called? I don’t recommend anyone wasting their time if you want considerate people serving you coffee. Tons of people downtown so the coffee must not be great to begin with since no one was inside yet tons were...
