Went here with a big group for dinner and have to say, many of us left uninpressed and disappointed. There were some goods, but mostly bads. The wait staff were friendly and accommodating. However, there would be lengthy periods of time we wouldn't see them. I know the stress on wait staff having a restaurant full of other guests, so one might overlook that. How to the food? Bland. Annoyingly overly colorful for no reason except to bring what I'm assuming the chef thinks is eye candies and wow factors Orange tortilla crisps? It's a bad game of imitating Doritos tacos from Taco Hell! All for color on a plate, again. Most of the vegetables are raw, pickled, and undercooked. Rice... this place is supposed to be "New Latino" food... but when you serve rice with raw, slivered purple onions and mounded with an unnecessary pile of black beans, again with the orange tortilla chips (standing annoyingly verticle in the rice heap), and there is ZERO FLAVOR, how on earth can you call it new Latino food? We had some Latino couples with us, and they were embarrassed that this was called Latino anything. Now to the colored sauces. In the back, they make these orange, white, and black sauces, shove them in a ketchup and mustard table bottle, and use this stuff on EVERYTHING. Dots, drabs, drizzles, swirls, zigzags, it's literally on everything. I get using color and sauces to accentuate your plate and palate. I understand bring that wow factor in with beautiful design and color. However, when you use it on everything, and I do mean everything, IT LOOSES ITS WOW FACTOR. Now, it looks like Halloween got sick and upchucked on everyones plate. The chicken was good. The cheese dip was good, although I'd leave Popeye and the spinach out of it. Drinks were pretty good. We had lots of mix drinks and cocktails, and lord knows we had to get drunk a little to eat this food. Overall, it's overpriced, undercooked, underwhelming, and seemingly having a head chef who is in over his or her head. This is probably the worst review I have...
Read moreA Culinary Gem of Ecuadorian Delights Our recent visit to Rolando's was nothing short of spectacular, offering a vibrant and authentic Peruvian dining experience. From start to finish, every dish showcased a perfect blend of flavors and artistry.
We began with the shrimp quesadillas, a delightful twist on a classic dish. The tortillas were golden and crispy, generously filled with tender, perfectly seasoned shrimp, and accompanied by a refreshing dipping sauce that elevated every bite. This starter set the tone for what was to come.
For our main courses, we explored several shrimp entrées, each one a masterpiece. The shrimp were impeccably cooked—juicy, fresh, and bursting with flavor. One standout dish featured shrimp nestled in a rich, zesty sauce, complemented by fragrant rice and a medley of sautéed vegetables. It was a symphony of textures and tastes that danced on the palate.
The crowning glory of our meal, however, was the banana dessert. Simply put, it was flawless. A perfect balance of sweet and savory, the dessert featured caramelized bananas with a luscious sauce that was neither too heavy nor overly sweet. Paired with a light, creamy topping, it provided a sublime end to our culinary journey.
The atmosphere of Rolando's was warm and inviting, with attentive service that ensured every need was met. It's clear that the team takes great pride in crafting an exceptional dining experience.
If you're craving bold, fresh flavors and an unforgettable taste of Peruvian cuisine, [Restaurant Name] is an absolute must-visit. We left with full hearts, satisfied taste buds, and a newfound appreciation for the artistry of...
Read moreI wish that we had tried the Vietnamese restaurant instead. The food here was so strange! The quesadilla that my daughter had contained so much cheese that she couldn't eat it. I know, hard to believe that something can have too much cheese. My husband's Popeye spinach burrito was so salty and the tiny bit of chicken was dry. The spinach inside tasted like it was frozen spinach that had been popped in the microwave. My dish (goat cheese and shrimp quesadilla) was just too rich. I had to leave the tortilla behind because it was drenched in like 4 different sauces, inside and out. The plates were all presented with all these colorful sauces drizzled all over them (they honestly looked like a 4 year old had fun with the squeeze bottles), and the black beans with white rice were overly complicated as well. We tried the "heavenly bananas" dessert, and when it came out it was basically some soggy bananas swimming in melted vanilla ice cream with a faint hint of rum. It seemed to us that this restaurant is trying really hard to be fancy, but it's just not. We spent way too much money here ($70 for two adults and a child, no drinks), and the food was just gross and strange. We come from a big city with LOTS of restaurants ranging from awesome to bleh. I feel sorry for the people of Fort Smith that they think this place is good Mexican/Latin American food. I would have preferred fast food over this place. The server and the AC was the only thing positive about this place. Fort Smith, if you want out-of-towners to return to your city for a meal, please stop sending them...
