Brief: Drinks/food were NOT good, service fumbling, slow, somewhat unprofessional, & the $ was quite high. Detailed: We'd heard good things! Girls had to be in school nearby @ 845. Arrived 8:18. They had a trainee behind the counter, sweet and upfront about that after the third fumble, but school/work rush on Friday a.m. is a BAD choice for solo training. She told me they don't offer dark roast. I don't think you get to call yourself a decent coffee shop if you don't offer a dark roast. We managed to order a lg red eye w choc, sm dirty chai w pumpkin, sm hot choc, mint-chip scone, & a blueberry muffin. We paid $23, then waited. & waited. They don't take your name. A few minutes later, the barista called a sm hot choc. My oldest walked to the counter & got it, thinking it was hers. No one corrected her, but a moment later a gentleman asked if they'd called his toddler's hot chocolate. The barista snarkily told him, "I did, but someone else grabbed it." My mortified daughter immediately apologized to the man and gave it to him (she hadn't touched it yet). The barista snapped, "It's too hot for her anyway. It didn't say it was for a child. I'm making her a child's now. It should say it's for a child." So, chastised, he handed the drink back to my daughter. That might sound like I'm picking. I'm NOT. Yes, she had facial piercings, etc., but so do I. As a matter of fact, I looked a little homeless this morning. I am NOT being visually/superficially judgmental.. This was purely an observation of her attitude, manner, tone, and actions. Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe she's a Scorpio. Idk. But it got worse. When she finished my drink a bit later, she cut her eyes up at me. I hadn't spoken to her. I was kinda scared to. Without a word she raised my cup and held it out to me with a lifted eyebrow. WTH? I took it and she points to the coffee urn, tells me politely that I may add more coffee if I'd like, then points down the bar to the cream, sugar, etc. Okay. Then she smirks at me and turns back to her work. Hot and cold and creepy, but okay. So I have a sip of nightmare. Jfcot, it was gawwdawful. Bitter, overly sweet, weird, and honestly just nasty. I could not possibly drink it...and had no time or balls to say or do anything about that, so I turned to my younger teen and asked, "If I put enough cream and sugar in this, do you think you'd drink it?" She nodded and I did just that. It was still awful. She couldn't, in fact, drink it. We waited, and waited.. And I heard the barista sniping at the trainee within easy earshot of the counter. She grabbed the wrong cup, this person got a free upgrade, what about this dirty chai? I just... It was unprofessional. Not leadership or correction, just sniping. It was hateful enough that I was uncomfortable and embarrassed for the girl who, again, was sweet and smiling if new. They served someone else, the lady with the "free upgrade." The barista informs her of her upgrade. Snarkily. Had she been before us? After? Why do part of our order in between other customers? Whatever...another few minutes later, she calls the dirty chai and we run out of there. It was 8:41. Twenty three minutes. I've had entire lunches in less time. Verdicts from the girls are that the scone was hard, powdery, and gross; the hot chocolate tasted "weird;" the muffin was straight up awful; the chai was pretty good -better than Starbucks, not as good as Dewey's. So. One good item out of five. The building is lovely, inside and out. It has great atmosphere. It looks cozy. Maybe it was just a bad day. Maybe...idk, maybe a lot of things I guess, but certainly we had a bad experience on our...
Read moreI have an allergy to a preservative used in syrups and so don’t often get to enjoy flavored coffees. I was pleasantly and excitedly found they use homemade syrups to flavor their coffee. So I had a Carmel Latte for the first time in 6 years, this was such a treat for me! While many people won’t need to worry about an allergy to syrups, I think not only is it beneficial for others to have clean ingredients, but it also improves the taste and quality! So I’m sure you will also enjoy your flavored latte’s from here! The coffee beans I found out are roasted fresh locally so you can enjoy a good quality fresh cup of java! The only recommendation I might have for management is the staff was unaware of how I could purchase some of these items for my home use as I live out of state. They told me I would have to call every order in when I asked if I could buy online. Then while waiting for my coffee I noticed a sign that they offer 5lb bags of coffee so I inquired and again staff was unaware suggesting I call the other location. After I left I went online and noticed that not only is coffee in 12 oz bags AND 5lb bags are offered online, but you can also sign up and subscribe to weekly or monthly shipping of your favorite coffee. I think this could be beneficial for staff to know to encourage guests of this option. But just my own thoughts. Thanks for having a good quality coffee, I look forward to subscribing online and visiting when I pass through again...
Read moreI walked in at 1:37 pm today for a quick double shot of espresso. There were two people in front of me. When I walked in, no one said hi. Waiting in line for about 5 minutes before the lady in front of me said “shoot” and walked out.
One of the workers was making coffee, one of them was what seemed to be straightening up things, and another one was taking the trash out. After waiting for about 10 minutes I asked the lady who was straightening up things if she was taking orders and she said in a minute she was fixing something. The guy still taking trash out. The lady making drinks said “we have a certain way we do things we will be with you in a moment”.
Continued waiting.
Finally the girl took the guys order in front of me. Then she took my order. Double shot espresso. I waited close to 10’more minutes and then the guy who was behind me got his drink before me. I said “I’m sorry, I’m in a hurry and the guy behind me just got his drink” the girl making the drinks said “it’s not our problem that you’re in a hurry and his drink was iced so it goes faster”
What???
I said “I’m sorry, did you just say it’s not my problem I’m in a hurry? I’m going on 25 minutes for a double espresso shot and that’s it.
She said “it’ll be ready soon.
She took her time of course, stopped making coffees to talk to another worker for a bit and then at 2:04 I got my espresso shot.
Hopefully my next experience will be a lot...
