My wife and I have been fans of the Cunningham group and specifically Bru burger for many years. I used to work in Indianapolis and we would end up going to bru burger in Noblesville or downtown Indy. We were happy to hear they were coming here.
Every time a new restaurant opens in Fort Wayne, you can count on a big line and long waits. As such, we got there at 4:30 on a Friday and had to wait for about 10 or 15 minutes. I’m sure by the time we left people were waiting 45 minutes plus.
Brew burger is in the old blue Mountain Café location and they kept the same basic look. Really nice facility, large, and has quite a capacity for customers. They’ve also seemed to have done a nice job of getting plenty of wait staff on hand to handle the influx. One suggestion we could make is if they could get some sound baffles or acoustic panels to control the noise. By the time the place got crowded I couldn’t even hear my wife across the table from me. Every surface there is a hard surface so sound bounces around like there is no tomorrow.
The only thing I can ding Bru burger on is the fact that their menu doesn’t make very clear a few things. You don’t have to order a gigantic burger. They have something called a snack burger and the menu makes it look like it’s just a plain old little tiny burger. What they don’t explain is you can get any of their burgers in that smaller size. in addition, you can order salads in half sizes so you can order a snack burger and a smaller salad with it. I ordered the burger and my wife ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger. Both were very well done and tasty. I must say I’m not a big fan of the bru burger itself and will probably get something different next time. Nothing wrong with the way they prepared it, just my taste. I had a buttermilk Cobb salad that was absolutely outstanding. I ordered the fries which are always good here and my wife ordered the onion rings which are exceptional. To close out, I ordered myself an old-fashioned. It tasted really good when it was first brought to the table but they’re using standard Restaurant ice cubes which melt way too fast and dilute the drink to the point that it ruins the drink. Certainly not worth the price. I would recommend they get some decent ice cubes specifically made for mixed drinks. Having said all that, our waiter Zach, was exceptional. He was attentive without being overbearing and full of good humor. Never been so happy to give somebody a 20% tip!
Bru Berger, welcome to Fort Wayne. We are thrilled to...
Read moreVisited Bru Burger Bar today for lunch and really enjoyed it. This is a gourmet burger joint with a bar serving mixed drinks and cocktails. They have 6 or so beers on tap and several other bottles and cans. Everything on the menu is a la carte. So your burger will not come with anything but the burger. The burgers range from $15 to $20. Check out the menu available online for more details here and for what all the burgers include.
There were four of us in the group today and we started with an order of the Bru Fries. The dish is just that, a dish of fries but it comes with three sauces to dip the fries in. It's probably comfortably enough for two people plus the burger that you're going to get, but we managed to stretch this to four people so everyone could have a taste of the fries and all of the dips. It includes their house ketchup, pepper mayo, and a barbecue dipping sauce. I really enjoyed the House ketchup. I'm really not a fan of mayo on fries at all. I know I know being from the Midwest and all that's hearsay. The barbecue dipping sauce was okay but I preferred the house ketchup.
We ordered four burgers pour sandwiches and we each enjoyed the style of burger that we ordered. We ordered the Nashville hot honey chicken sandwich, the Provincial, Stilton Bleu Cheese, and Chipotle BBQ burgers. I had the Chipotle BBQ burger which included an onion ring, BBQ pulled pork and white cheddar. I really enjoyed the burger. It was well cooked to order, juicy and bursting with flavor. The burger was plenty big enough for a meal and of course it had a generous helping of barbecue pulled pork on it as well so I had plenty to eat. There are many other styles of burgers that I would return to give a try as well. Even their basic double burger with bacon and cheese looked very good.
It happened to be my birthday on the day we visited so we ordered the fudge brownie and the bread pudding for dessert. Each of them comes served with a scoop of ice cream. I had the bread pudding which was giving very strong peach cobbler vibes. I loved it. The fudge brownie came with a raspberry sauce along with the scoop of ice cream. They were both good but I preferred the bread pudding.
I definitely do recommend this place for a stop for a good burger. I didn't try any of the cocktails or mixed drinks so that will be something I will need to try the next...

My girlfriend and I decided to try Bru on a whim several weeks ago… I’ve been back three times since then. Burgers and beer are two of my favorite things, so a burger bar is exactly where I want to be.
So far, the Southern burger (name?) is my favorite. The pimento cheese on there really makes it. I’ve started getting experimental and trying their different patty options too. The Bison burger is SO good, and the black bean patty is nothing to scoff at. Matter of fact, I prefer their Mexicali burger with the black bean patty. Imagine a taco salad on a bun, but better than you think it’ll be.
I also have to specifically mention their house-made ketchup- or “tomato jam” I believe they call it? I don’t like ketchup. But I LOVE this stuff. It’s sweeter than ketchup, but tastes more “natural”, and their fries go so well with it.
I haven’t tried many of the appetizers yet, but I can confidently say that the pretzel sticks with the beercheese and spicy brown mustard are amazing. Side note- they will bring you a side of beercheese if you ask for it. My Lord, that beercheese is gooooood. Get some for your burger and/or...
