Yum. Yum. Yum. Went for my bday dinner. We tried the artisan bread. It's grilled and served with an oil and red wine balsamic mix and separates a dollop of whipped butter. The bread was crispy and warm. It had a nice chew texture. 😋 we tried the Kung pao calamari. So, Yum! Nice mix of cabbage and greens on top. The calamari had a slightly chewy texture, but the breading was crisp and crunchy. The garlic chili really topped it off! The BF had the swordfish, and oh my word! It was delicate, moist, nice crust, and the corn and guacamole and Sriracha aioli were smashing!!! The tomahawk porckchop was really juicy. I didn't care for the onions/apples, but the brown sauce was great. The horseradish potato smear was really good and complimented the chop nicely. The potatoes were sliced and seared on top and bottom. Never had potatoes that way but was tender and went well with the chops. I asked for a cosmo and a raspberry lemon drop. Cosmo was on par, but the raspberry lemon drop was delicious. Both will sneak up on you if you're not careful. Good place for a martini! The dessert rounded off an encredible meal. We had the chocolate terrine. It came with raspberry sauce and black raspberry ice cream. The cake is dense but not dry. It still had a nice moisture balance, so as you maserated, it became almost like a cream. Food was the star, but lays not forget the atmosphere and the staff. They were on top of refilling waters, taking plates away, and bringing the food out. All were friendly. The atmosphere where we sat near the entrance a d front bar got a little loud but not overpowering. The lighting was low, but our eyes adjusted quickly. I like the mix of wall paper texture and the wood accents. The booths with the old car seat look were very appealing, but I'm short, and I felt like a little kid because my feet couldn't touch the ground. I also like the mixed tile and wood flooring to create a flow. The backdrop of the bar is a great talking point. The price point is on par with other similar fare. I will be going again and you should too! Fort wayne has needed this for a while! Thank...
Read moreI visited Marquee with high expectations and left feeling disappointed.
To start our evening, we excitedly ordered the chilaquiles poutine - they even had the option to add eggs! For some reason, when our waitress dropped off the poutine appetizer, it came with two, cold, hard-boiled eggs and rushed off again. When she eventually returned and I asked about it, not only did she have no idea what chilaquiles are, (a Mexican breakfast dish notably categorized by a runny-yolk sunny side up egg) but she was unsure if the hard-boiled eggs were the correct accompaniment to the dish, something the management should have made crystal clear when educating the wait staff about the dishes. Very disappointing for a restaurant of Marquee's caliber, but we pushed through despite the disappointment.
Unfortunately, our bad luck with Marquee did not stop there. when it came to our entrées, I ordered the chicken salad and requested, specifically "to add shrimp, in addition to the chicken." When the dish was dropped off, again, too quickly to make a correction, the salad had only 4 small shrimp. Due to the issue with the poutine, I did not want to make a further fuss, so I decided not to say anything if they did not charge me for it. Lo and behold, the full-priced meal with the addition of the shrimp was charged to me. The cherry on top was having the drinks we ordered with our entrée delivered with the check. The waitress said the bar was backed up, but we could pretty plainly see that she had forgotten to put our order in.
In Marquee's defense, they did waive the cost of the salad and provide a complementary appetizer voucher by way of apology, but the mistakes there were made were too glaring to overlook so easily. The food that we did receive tasted good, but it was the lack of attention at every turn that made this a disappointing experience, especially for the price point. I was looking forward to adding Marquee to our regular cycle of restaurants to visit, but now I am...
Read moreI don't often bother to write a bad review of a place unless really warranted, but in this case it is. We dine here fairly regularly and I'm a member of the rewards club. The food is always great, the service....not so much. We have dined on the patio on 3 separate occasions. Every time we have dined outside, it's like the patio is just an afterthought. Each time we ere seated and then it was half an hour before someone came to see if we would like a menu, order a drink, etc. The slow service continued throughout our meal. But today was the absolute worst. Our server greeted us by complaining about management. Then, after bringing our food, hung around our table to chit-chat. Don't get me wrong, I like to interact with our server whenever we dine out, but I would rather have a conversation with my wife during dinner, not listen to the server's life story. She also never brought the box that asked for (twice) for our leftovers. And don't give me the "short-staffed" excuse. That excuse has been WAY overused, and besides, Marquee just extended their hours this week to include an earlier opening time. As I said, this kind lack of attentativeness is a regular occurrence on their patio. The food and atmosphere is always great. But don't expect very...
