Came here for the first time on a Friday night around 8p. Awesome to see a late night space open but fell short of expectations. I’m planning on coming back and giving it another try once it’s been open for a bit.
The set up is a little confusing. We walked in and were greeted told to grab a seat anywhere. We sat at a booth for a while (10+ minutes) before a staff member walking by said its order at the bar only. Not a problem just confusing. Some signage/ connection by staff member would probably fix that. Drinks came quickly and were decent. We tried to order a couple different food items they were out of unfortunately. We did get a chopped cheese that was ok.
Sitting in the booth was a little uncomfortable (sizing) the table touched our stomachs and there wasn’t really space for 4 full grown adults to sit in once booth. Maybe I got a “bad” booth but definitely something to consider.
Due to how small the space is people standing at the bar trying to order kept bumping our table and spilling our drinks. If you’re looking for a late night quick bite this might be your place but know it’s small and can...
Read moreTo start, I think I just caught them on an off night. Visiting Fort Wayne for work. When I travel I prefer to find hole-in-the-wall, local-vibe places to eat/drink. Night Train’s subterranean atmosphere offered exactly that. Nothing fancy. Chill. Their food menu is small; a handful of burgers/sandwiches and chicken tenders. I ordered the tenders but a minute later, the bartender returned to let me know they were out of tenders. I had already returned the menu so I just took it as a sign that I should just have a cocktail and eat somewhere else. The cocktail was made quickly and tasted good. (Although the $10 price point for a Ketel One drink seems high for the market.) Maybe 2 minutes after I was told they were out of chicken tenders, the woman sitting at the bar next to me attempted to order a beer only to be told they were out of that too. Again, it was a Monday. Maybe they were unexpectedly busy the previous weekend and just ran low on things.
I would give it another shot if I’m ever back, but this round, the...
Read moreBack in Fort Wayne and somehow found myself at Night Train again… and guess who’s still running the whole show? Tony and Zach, holding it down like bartending Avengers. Are they the only employees?? Do they live here?? Tony insists there are others, but I have yet to see them with my own eyes.
Music? Still a whole vibe. Drinks? Good enough that I stayed long enough to get the full scoop on what to do next time I’m in town (bless you, Fort Wayne local intel). Also, if you’re ever curious about what a blue cheese shot is—don’t worry, Tony’s got you. I’m not saying you should try it, but I’m also not saying you shouldn’t…
Last time I came, Zach literally saved me from a “get-out” type situation like a true one, and the wings were good af. I’m still on a mission to find who dares claim the #1 spot. Someone report back.
Third Saturday of the month is karaoke night, and apparently it’s a “do not miss,” so I clearly need to plan my life around that now. Fort Wayne, you sneaky little...
