Crispy Cones - Fort Wayne: A Sweet Twist on a Classic Treat Crispy Cones brings a truly unique and delightful dessert experience to Fort Wayne. Stepping away from the traditional waffle cone, this shop specializes in a warm, freshly-grilled dough cone that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This "chimney cake" style cone, inspired by a popular European pastry, is the star of the show. It's a fantastic vessel for the soft-serve ice cream, providing a warm, doughy contrast to the cold and creamy filling. The menu is designed for customization, starting with your choice of a cinnamon sugar or specialty powder-coated cone. Inside, you can choose from various spreads like Nutella or cookie butter, which adds an extra layer of flavor and decadence. The soft-serve ice cream itself is smooth and rich, and they often feature a rotating "flavor of the week" in addition to the classic vanilla and chocolate options. The final step is to pile on the toppings and drizzle with a sauce of your choice. While the ice cream itself is a simple soft-serve, it's the combination of the warm, fresh cone and the customizable toppings that makes a Crispy Cone a memorable experience. It's a delicious and fun treat that’s worth trying, especially if you're looking for something more exciting than your average ice cream cone. The one thing to keep in mind is that with the warm cone and soft-serve, it can melt quickly, so be ready to...
Read moreWent on 9/7/25 with a friend who had been wanting to try it. The owner was very friendly, opened the door, and offered us a sample of the ice cream. They had two flavors pumpkin and chocolate vanilla. I was not impressed at all by the chocolate and vanilla. It tasted as though they took cheap vanilla ice cream from Walmart and drizzled Great Value chocolate syrup on it from a squeeze bottle. It is listed as premium ice cream on their menu and there was nothing premium about it. The prices are very expensive, for a cone about the size of small/medium it cost just over $9. I got the premium vanilla ice cream, peanut butter glaze, Reese cups, and cookie butter. Again the premium ice cream really didn't have much of a flavor. Most of the flavor came from the candy toppings and the cone which tasted like one of those powdered sugar donuts you get at a Chinese Buffet. With it being a new place, the line was 15 to 20 minutes long. It was fun to try it, but won't being going back there. Again the owner was super friendly but for their prices I'd much rather have Kilwins downtown - if you want premium ice cream that actually tastes amazing that is the...
Read moreThere was one employee there, I couldn’t see her name because none of the employees wear name tags but she was rude. My sister and her boyfriend were ordering on the kiosks and I was behind them and there was another young lady behind the counter. They were trying to figure out how to interrupt our ordering process in order to tell us that the cones needed about 10 minutes to finish proofing, which is completely fine and I said so in a respectful manner. The one young lady respectfully explained it to me. So I was going to start with my order, expecting that I would just be waiting 10 minutes on my order, but the one rude girl snatched the kiosks and turned both of them around and kept staring at me. So I’m just standing there and they’re both just looking at me so I ask the golden question that should’ve been stated in the first place, “Did you mean I have to wait 10 minutes to order?” And the girl looked at ME like I was the dumb one and said “uh yeah”. I think she might’ve been a trainer, but either way completely...
