So I rarely go to fast food joints - much less drive-thrus. Tonight I decided one simple thing (or you would think it was simple) I wanted a Frosty from Wendy's. Since our location on Broadway at Bluffton was mercifully put out its never-updated store, I had choir practice downtown tonight and chose the location right around the corner from the church. Simple, right? I saw no cars in the drive-thru, which I thought was odd, but ventured to traverse up to it and once I got to the speaker where the ghost human addresses you, before I could even say anything was told, "we're not accepting orders." I looked at the thing like it was some alien object, then checked my hearing, then said "you're not accepting orders???" I knew this experience would NOT improve. So, being dumb and assertive, I said, "What do you MEAN 'you're not accepting orders?" I could tell the human on the other end was a teenager and this explained no cars in line. I asked if they were "taking orders" inside and then this is when the reason was revealed. He told me that they had too many DoorDash orders and could not take orders from actual customers who stupidly assumed they could just - well you know - come to the STORE? And ORDER? At this point some saintly gentleman - who appeared to be my age - appeared, like a ghostly savior - at the spot where you turn left to go to the window. I think he must have heard my dialogue with the teen and came to my rescue. I pulled and he said "what was it you were wanting to order?" I told him "only a Frosty" and he held out his hand, "give me your money." I gave him the cash, pulled to the window, and voila! He had my Frosty. I thanked him profusely and then sat less than a minute to take the lid off, open the spoon and enjoy my dessert when the window at the now non-functioning drive-thru opened and a person said "you have to move." I was like, what? This isn't even functioning. So I said "why do I have to move? You aren't even using it or taking orders!" And she told me - I kid you not "it's on a timer. You have to move." I realized at that moment civilization truly IS breaking down. When simply going to a fast food joint to get something becomes such an ordeal; when not even the most simple things seem to work any more; and when I - who almost never go to fast food joints, much less drive-thrus - was thrust into a vortex of chaos over a simple order - life as we know it - or knew it - is kind of over. Wrap your mind around this: this restaurant - which has a drive-thru - preferred - PREFERRED to turn down hundreds of customers that day because they were "too backed up with DoorDash customers" - management is now stupid. They are all rendered stupid. And the whole system is now kind of pointless. Which is why I make my own "frosties" from scratch, at home, and cook almost all my damn food, which is good for me, healthy and way way cheaper. And that's my excursion into the wild, wild, stupid world of fast food. And why NO Frosty is worth a trip to a Wendy's. I'm over you. Man glad I got that...
Read moreHow was Wendy's ?...Glad u asked. Wow is all I can say. So my niece , her two kids, and I went here about 915 pm it wasn't very busy ..at first . Pulled up to the speaker and tried to place 2 orders the person told us after 8 pm they could only take 1 order per car so I didn't have any cash on hand so I sent her my money thru an app to her card to pay for mine. We ordered about 4 Sandwiches a 10 piece nugget and a 4 piece nugget and a few fries and 4 drinks . They gave us our drinks and forgot one and then asked us to pull over to the side which we did and it wasn't because they were busy it was to get us off their timer to imply they were moving cars. There was only one car behind us at this time and they had already pulled two other cars ahead of us over as well. We sat there for about 15 min during this time a couple more cars came thru which they had pull over too . A lady and a guy came out with food, because they had everyone pulled over they forgot who's food was who's because they walked our food to every car in front of us in the freezing cold asking if they ordered ..?? Then we got our food it's missing the 10 piece and a large fry and small fry she comes back out n still forgets a fry she had the nerve to seem annoyed at this time because she couldn't get our order right the first time . The fries were spilled in the bag and the other fry was only partially filled. I go to Wendy's a few times a month I don't recall their service ever being so sloppy and inconsiderate and they seemed to b out of almost everything we initially asked for that night because we asked for the fresh lemonade .. none asked for chili ..none and we got no ranch for nuggets. I know this Wendy's get good business because they are right down town but they need to step it up a few notches and management needs to make sure their night crew is working as hard as their day crew. #...
Read moreI live downtown, and due to the late hours that I often work, this Wendy’s location right next to the YMCA is one of the few if only places that are indeed open. Typically, if I have an unpleasant experience somewhere, I will just allow it to be that—Understanding that things happen that we don’t always have all of the details as to why, and allow it to go without giving any further comment on letting bygones be bygones as life is to short to complain about everything.
However, this truly needs to be stated concerning this establishment. On any night period that I have chosen to try and purchase a meal here which is typically 3-4 nights a week, their wait time in the drive through is absolutely ridiculous. You will literally pull up behind a car and wait 10-15 minutes, before the car even moves forward (Even if they are only ordering a frosty), and then once all of the vehicles in front of you have FINALLY been able to get through their frustrations of having to wait, move forward and order allowing you to be at the ordering station, you find yourself having to wait yet an additional 5-10 minutes before they even take your own order. The customer service is decent at best.
Seriously Wendy’s?!?!?!? This has been an ongoing issue now for over two months at this location (Today’s date is 06/12/2019) —I challenge you to send in an undercover person from your corporate office to experience this for yourself. Then, when you finally do you manage to make it to the window, half of the items are already out for the night due to the lateness and unfortunately that’s not the customers fault he’s been left waiting for 30 minutes just to make it to the window. And my entire 41 years, never have I found a place that has absolutely worst customer service and an operation then this particular...
